Since launching in November 2005, Achievements and gamerscore have taken the gaming world by surprise. The “Achievement Unlocked� alert makes not firing once in the first 60-seconds of “Geometry Wars Retro Evolved� appear perfectly normal. Looking for hours on end for the 50th survivor in “Dead Rising� – just another day’s work. In fact, since the Xbox 360 launched, more than 200 Million Achievements have been unlocked.

Achievements and gamerscore allow gamers to compare success, attempt unique in-game challenges and find value in playing games over and over. The reward for Achievements is an exciting and challenging way to play games, and only Xbox 360 offers it.

Since Xbox 360 gamers love to be rewarded, we are happy to announce the Old Spice Experience Challenge.

Xbox 360 is teaming up with Old Spice to bring the first Rewards Challenge to Xbox Live. Gamers will be charged with increasing their gamerscore by 1,500 between February 12 and April 12, 2007. That’s 60 days to bring your overall gamerscore up by 1,500 for the chance to earn a bounty of rewards. In order to participate, you need to have a valid Windows Live™ ID with your Xbox LIVE® gamercard linked, be a legal resident of the 50 United States and District of Columbia (expect future challenges to be global in scope) and at least thirteen years-old.

Reward Package Qualifications

* Level 1 (Gamers who have an annual gamerscore between 0-4,999 at time of entry): Game Picture, Dashboard theme, Contra for Xbox LIVE Arcade
* Level 2 (5,000-9,999 annual gamerscore): Level 1 Package, 100 Microsoft Points and a contest T-shirt
* Level 3 (10,000+ annual gamerscore): Level 1 Package, 200 Microsoft Points, contest T-shirt and Fusion Frenzy 2

In addition, Old Spice will give Level 1 and 2 the gift of experience by upgrading their Rewards Level for 2007.

Think you can do it? With more than $500,000 in total rewards, such as Microsoft Points and Xbox 360 games, it is time to tackle those unbeaten games and start unlocking Achievements, because this Spring the rewards go beyond just having an impressive gamerscore.

To clarify, which prize package you can get depends on the Gamerscore you have when you enter the contest. If you have 5500 points, you will be eligible for the Level 2 prize.

The 1500 points have to be earned between February 12th and April 12th, so you may want to wait about a week to earn more points.

A smart and easy way to earn points is games like Madden. Take Madden 06, similutaing 30 seasons in Franchise Mode (which takes less than 1 hour) will earn you an easy 400 points. You may want to try a free trial subscription to GameFly to help earn you these points.

lol all of those prizes are awful. I love my 360 and Xbox Live. But I dont give a shit about those prizes. If I want any of that shit, I'll just buy it

They aren't great, but they are free. All you have to do is earn 1500 points in a 2 month period.

Every regular game has 1000 points, and every Xbox Live Arcade game has 200 points. Developers can divide these up in anywhere from 5 achievements up to 50.

Sports games are usually very easy to get points in. This is the checklist for Madden NFL 06:

1)Rush for 200 Yards
Successfully rush for 200 yards or more. 100 points
2) Complete 30 Years of Franchise
Successfully complete 30 years of Franchise mode. 400 points
3)Pass for 350 Yards
Successfully pass for over 350 yards or more.100 points
4)Win the Super Bowl
Win the Super Bowl with your Franchise team.100 points
5)Win a Franchise Game
Win a user-controlled Franchise game.100 points
6)Four Sacks in One Game
Amass four sacks in one game.100 points
7)Complete an Offline Game
Successfully complete an offline game.30 points
8)Get a First Down
Gain a first down in any offline game mode.20 points
9)Score a Touchdown
Score a Touchdown in any Offline game mode.30 points
10)Activate RS Card
Activate any of the RS cards.10 points
11)Enter History Book
Enter any of the history book screens in Franchise mode.10 points

Well I am in level 3 and can easily get 1500 but I am not eligible. Not missing out on much though since I own Contra and Fuzion Frenzy 2 and an Old Spice gamerpic isn't exactly going to make me cry about this being US only :Banane56:

In some ways this isn't fair though. The people with the highest gamerscores are actually at a disadvantage while the people with lower gamerscores are at an advantage.

I'm not so sure, there are plenty of points. A few weeks ago somebody broke the 2 million mark. To be fair though, he had multiple copies of the same game (like a North American copy of Eragon and a Eurpean version, since they count as seperate games on a Gamerscore), and he has been accused of cheating (like sharing his account so others can earn the achievements for him).

I'm sure the next contest will be international. I hope I can get an Xbox 360 before this starts, even though I would likely only get Level 1 since I doubt I could get more than 5000 points before it starts (although a free copy of Contra is still nice).

Two million would be one of the glitchers. The highest gamerscore is 111,688 but while not glitched the leaders are known to share accounts and game save like you mentioned.

With this being a limited first come first serve thing it is very easy for somebody with a lower gamerscore to get the 1500 you need to get to enter once this starts with games like College Hoops 2K6 that they might not have played so they could do 1500 in a couple of hours. While the chance of people with higher gamerscores not already having the really easy 1000 from games like that is pretty slim so they would have to get that 1500 from harder games that would take more than a couple of hours.
