I'm a gamer. Not an obsessive, nor a complete casual. I have my games that I tend to buy every year - the Smackdowns and the FIFAs of this world. I enjoy other sports games too - Top Spin 2 is arguably my favourite 360 title. I'm not bothered by first person shooters, never really been my thing (Except Goldeneye, of course.)
I also tend to invest in the big games released on the systems I own - the GTAs, the Metal Gear Solids (If they're any good), the Marios, the Zeldas, etc. Anything that is critically acclaimed and appeals, I tend to buy.
I'm sure I would also still get a kick out of games like Super Mario 64, Mario Kart, and all the classic N64 games I played as a young 'un. The idea of playing some under-appreciated GC games also appeals.
So what I wanna know is: Is it worth buying a Nintendo Wii? I realise the price tag is fairly reasonable for a new console, and I sure as hell have a craving for some Zelda-related action. Is it well supported? Are there lots of good games available or going to be available? I was disenchanted by the GC, as I felt the likes of Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion and other games were a big letdown, so I don't want to get burnt again.
IS IT WORTH IT?!

The Wii sports are really fun. And Excite Truck is as well. And as far as I can tell there are going to be some pretty good games coming out for it.
Plus you always have the old NES, Sega, & some other old system that I can't think of right now, games that you can download and play as well.
I haven't bought a system since the PS1 though so what do I know!?

Yes. There will be a more variety of games for the wii basically cause they are cheaper to produce and some of the smaller companies can play in that market without having to have HUGE financial backing... Here is a small list of games to come out in Q1 of 07.
Feb. 14 Wii Play with Wii Remote Nintendo
March 27 Disney's Meet the Robinsons Buena Vista
March Bust-A-Move Bash Majesco
March Prince of Persia Rival Swords Ubisoft
March TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Ubisoft
March Bionicle Heroes Eidos
March Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII Ubisoft
Q1 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 EA
Q1 SSX Blur EA
Q1 The Godfather: Blackhand Edition EA
Q1 Medal of Honor Vanguard EA
Q1 Sonic and the Secret Rings Sega
Keep in mind as well there will be your calssic gaming titles available on line, and there are also going to be your Smash Bros., Metroids, Marios, and more Zelda games to come... I would say if you are casual or a hardcore gamer it is a very safe bet to go with the Wii... if you can find one that is...

Anyone know where I can find some Wii remotes/nunchucks? Those suckers are hard to find! I've had the Wii for almost 2 months now and still can't find more controllers...grr..
EDIT: By the way, yes it is worth it. Go get one!!!!
For the day that I played the wii at my friends house, it is definetely worth the purchase. I have never had a workout like that before from a video game system. It's worth purchase, and once I get my tax return back, I am gonna buy one.
Jayman, buy Wii Play when it comes out. It comes with a Wii Remote bundled (since as the name implies it is meant for 2 or more people), so you are basically paying $10 for the game.
I think I am going to invest in one, as soon as my cash situation rectifies itself. I've just got out the old N64, played Ocarina of Time, it still kicks the ass of 99% of games around, so the new Zelda must be the absolute shit.

Actually like the past two Nintendo consoles Wii isn't getting very good third party support and most of what it is getting are ports of last gen games so the variety isn't anywhere near 360 or even PS3. And while it might cost less for a small developer it will cost more for the big multiconsole developers which I can see leading to dropped Wii support once they run out of last gen games to port. Because those developers can release ports for PS3 from 360 and vice versa but for Wii they can't do that since it is far too weak to handle a PS3 or 360 port.
Honestly the only way I would try to convince somebody to buy a Wii is if I was trying to sell mine which I am very close to doing and I usually refuse to sell or trade consoles and games because I collect. Just an all around lacking console IMO. Even the virtual console is lacking which I had high hopes for. XBLA has made me expect more than quick direct ports that sell for more than the original games sell for on Ebay.
