Super Smash Bros. Melee (you will see why it's highest selling GCN game and still does like 15K over 5 years after releasing)
Zelda; The Wind Waker (a great Zelda game with wonderfully graphics that make it feel like you controlling a cartoon)
Zelda: Twilight Princess (if you don't have a Wii)
Metroid Prime 2 (not as good as the first one but still good)
F-Zero GX (a HARD racer that controls very precisely)
Resident Evil 4 (one of the best games of last gen)
Remember that ALL GameCube games can also be played on the Wii.
yeah i will eventually buy a wii but since i got this for free i figured id play it up while i wait for the wii.
resident evil 4 i beat on ps2 and it is pretty sweet.
more than likely i will get all teh zelda games for it too.
my big concern i have right now is that i have animal crossing on the DS but i kind of want it for the gamecube now so i can play it on a bigger screen. im not sure if i should just stick with the DS version or sell it and get the GC version
I would say you would be safe with any of the mario themed games as well if you plan on doing some mulitplayer action, but if you are going for multi-player... Smash Bros Melee is MUST HAVE.

Super Mario Sunshine is good. People rag on it though for not being a huge jump over Super Mario 64 (the same way SM64 was over SMW), but it's still fun.
If you like old school 2D games, Viewtiful Joe is really fun and I love the comic book style it has. You probably won't be able to find it now (except through eBay) but Ikaruga is an old school style shooter that is a little too hard (I couldn't even make it past level 2).
i like to play games in order and such so once i get finished with mario and luigi: super star saga i will start on paper mario thousand year door and go from there.

If you've never played it on any other system, XIII is a good first person shooter. You can get it on eBay for very little, but like I say, it was available on all consoles when it was released.
