I want to protect my $400 investment, and as such, I want proper cooling on it. Playing Madden today I couldn't help but notice how warm the area surrounding my 360 was, and while I'm sure it was still within normal operating specifications, I'd rather have it too cool, than on too hot. I've been reading up on some of the cooling devices that people have come up with to keep them a bit cooler, but a lot of them have poor reviews citing the fact that they run off of the 360's power supply. I imagine, that most are USB plugin, right? I would be able to avoid that, as I have several USB hubs that are self powered, so that wouldn't be a problem. But are there any other problems that I should be aware of, and any one have some suggestions?
I was thinking of going with both of this, for extreme cooling;

Hrmmm, Maybe its just yours but my 360 only really gets "hot" (its some what warm most of the time, nothing abnormal) after like 3-4 hours of play. Thats usualy when I finish up and let it take a break for 15-30 mintues before playing again.
But if yours is heating up more then usual I'd def get the Nyko one, Ive heard some good things about there products

no it doesn't make it worse... it is a bit louder, but mine isnt much louder, but it does help it. Mine plugs directly into the back and not through USB. MIne seems to help, but it is still good to give your systema little rest from time to time.

There have been a lot of cases where the Nyko intercoolers have damaged 360 consoles and Microsoft have even came out telling people not to buy them and recomended the Pelican fan stand instead so I would only just get the fan stand and then make sure the 360 is in a well ventilated area. Nyko claim that it is just faulty intercoolers and have offered to replace any 360's damaged by them but Microsoft representatives have given other reasons other than a faulty intercooler that they are bad for the system. The big one is that it drains so much power from the console that it can actually cause a complete shutdown. Other cases include the intercooler leaving scorch marks or in some cases even melting to the console.
