PS3 = No Force Feedback

If you've hooked your force feedback wheel (something like the Logitech Driving Force Pro) up to your PlayStation 3 and wondered why it doesn't support force feedback, Sony has revealed why. The simple answer is that the PlayStation 3 itself will not support force feedback.

In games such as Gran Turismo HD or the upcoming Formula One: Championship edition, the wheels will work with Force Feedback wheels, but the PlayStation 3 will not support Force Feedback. Sony Computer Entertainment America told Game Informer Online that while the games will be able to be played with the wheels, they will not take advantage of force feedback because the games are programmed to use the Sixaxis controller which do not have force feedback.

Whether or not this will be changed via an update to the PS3 firmware in the future is unknown at this time, but it's a little disappointing especially for gamers who plunked down the extra cash for a force feedback wheel.

Haha, Sony should have just paid Immersion to license their rumble technology. Everyone knows that is the only reason the Sixaxis controller doesn't have rumble in it.

Doesn't bug me. Hate rumble features and always turn them off.

this is more than just rumble... in this case, there is no pushback at all on the turn making every turn you make loose making the illusion of driving the car crap. I like it tto have some push back like I was actually driving tha car.

Well it is nothing that can't be patched just like PGR3 had to be for 360 to support force feedback :drive:

But force feedback is what rumble features are called in everything including a basic controller so I guess I am not seeing how it is anything more than the rumble. Either way it won't bug me. Racing games are my favorite genre but I have never bothered with a racing wheel. Controllers are fine to me and I would rather buy 3 racing games than 1 racing wheel.
