If you've hooked your force feedback wheel (something like the Logitech Driving Force Pro) up to your PlayStation 3 and wondered why it doesn't support force feedback, Sony has revealed why. The simple answer is that the PlayStation 3 itself will not support force feedback.
In games such as Gran Turismo HD or the upcoming Formula One: Championship edition, the wheels will work with Force Feedback wheels, but the PlayStation 3 will not support Force Feedback. Sony Computer Entertainment America told Game Informer Online that while the games will be able to be played with the wheels, they will not take advantage of force feedback because the games are programmed to use the Sixaxis controller which do not have force feedback.
Whether or not this will be changed via an update to the PS3 firmware in the future is unknown at this time, but it's a little disappointing especially for gamers who plunked down the extra cash for a force feedback wheel.
