I find it hard to believe you could do both. If I was waving something around in front of something expensive I would tend to be a little more careful.
I don't plan on being that wild when I get mine. I don't have a lot of room to move around that much anyway.

Haha, I laugh at people like this. Why would you swing the controller as fast as you can, and why would you let go of the controller? And some of these people are trying to blame Nintendo when they know its their fault, not Nintendo's.

It is their fault that Nintendo have made a faulty product that doesn't do what it is supposed to? So sick of people defending Nintendo about this when if it was Sony people would be acting like it is the end of the world. The reason you get all the warnings when you start games to make sure you have the wrist strap on is because there is a potential it can slip out of your hands unless you play like Gamespot reviewers sitting on a couch and barely moving. The wrist strap is supposed to stop the remote if that happens but people are having it snap because of it being a faulty product. Nintendo just better be getting their lawyers ready because the second somebody is hit by one of these flying remotes they are going to be in for massive lawsuits which they could be heading toward anyway. And if those lawsuits happen Nintendo couldn't use the excuse that people should just make little movements because of how they have advertised playing the games.
Either way Nintendo are in trouble. They either have lawsuits or people not buying a Wii because making little motions and sitting on a couch takes away any fun Wii has and well the hardware isn't going to be selling the console for sure.

So when a baseball bat slips out of someones hand and hits a kid in a softball game, are people gonna sue Loisville Slugger? No, that's preposterous. People find any way possible to sue somebody, this country is going off the deep end. How about you HOLD ON to the damn thing? If you are holding onto the remote and the strap snaps, the remote still isn't going anywhere. The reason people are getting hit is because they let go. If a kid lets go of a bat, it's his fault. Nintendo is not at fault here.
I have the Wii and I have played the sports games. I haven't found myself getting the string snapped or letting go of the remote. Simple laws of physics: the string breaks because the remote is thrown, applying a force on the string.
Nothing is break proof. If you fling things around with no control they will eventually break. Some responsiblity has to be on the end of the user. They didn't even have to put a strap on the remote. They did it to help prevent careless fools who are wreckless from breaking stuff.

I'm on the fence with my Wii at the moment. Its great for party games but as a console it kinda sucks as I don't like sitting in my living room swinging a remote around.
However people who breka the remote are idiots. Seriously, play Wii Sports Golf, you swing the remote even a little bit vigoursly and the shot goes flying off and into the red zone. There is NO REASON AT ALL swing the remote aroun like a fucking tool.
If I was Nintendo I would shit on any lawsuit papers and return them to sender. The judge I'm pretty sure will agree otherwise you'll get a lot of these:
Idiot No1 : Hey sucker, is that General Electric?
Sane Person No1 : Yeah
Idiot No1 : Yeah I was swinging my oven around and it slipped. I killed the neighbour.
Sane Person : What?
Idiot No1 : yeah I'm gonna sue.
