I got the game on Friday (even though I pre-ordered it in May, fucking Gamestop online...) and I have to say that it is very impressive. I'm only eighteen so I don't exactly have an intimate knowledge of The Beatles' catalogue. That was a big attraction to this game for me; getting introduced to the band and their music.
I started off on drums and finished the Story Mode in about eight hours or so. The songs aren't difficult at all on Expert drums, I five-starred every song on my sightreads and never came close to failing (I don't even think that I hit yellow on the meter). While difficulty, or lackthereof, may drive people away, the shear amount of fun that you get from playing The Beatles' music and experiencing everything that Harmonix put into the game makes it worthwhile. With downloadable content coming, the game is so much more impressive than Neversoft's Metallica offering. That's saying a lot as I love Metallica and was very familiar with the songs on the disc.
I'm just curious if anyone else here bought the game and their impressions, or if anyone is planning on getting the game.

“Sometimes you have to tell your agent that I’m happy here, and you work for me.” - Tim Hudson after signing a new three-year deal with the Braves.
I bought it last night and like you, don't have a huge knowledge of the band (I'm 27 but didn't grow up listening to them). Last night my wife and I played with me on Guitar/Bass (I played whichever had the higher difficulty depending on song) and my wife sung.
We got through the first two stages of the story and I agree that thus far, the songs are pretty easy. I'm hoping they get a little more challenging. I didn't realize how many songs I recognized thus far though. Many songs I'm like "Oh, the Beatles are singing this? I never knew".
I enjoy how the story mode is broken into "stages" in the Beatles career, starting at the beginning at a small club, then going on the Ed Sullivan show and singing the songs they sang there..the next stage apparently is their trip to Shea Stadium in the States.
It's a fun game thus far. I haven't tried drums or singing, and I do want to try the singing in harmonies, but we just need to get a few more microphones for that. I enjoy that concept as it is more true to life as how bands sing. (ie: not just one guy on the mic all the time)
I just finished going through guitar last night and it doesn't necessarily get more difficult, but the songs do get a lot more fun. I've played "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" more than I can shake a leg at.

I love this game. Like you guys, I had very little Beatles knowledge going into this but I must see, it's very well put together. It is relatively easy though. On Rock Band, I can usually do quite well on Hard guitar, but almost nothing on expert. In this game, I've actually done many of the harder songs on expert and have gotten pretty good scores.
Though the overall experience trumps the easy difficulty by far.
Jay, just wait til you get to the dreamscapes after the Beatles stop touring. Mind = blown.

I wish they had more videos and footage to unlock. They hype for this game made me think that it was more of an interactive documentary more then a game...which isnt entirley true.
Still, its the best looking and best packaged music game to come out, and playing through the career does give you the sense you're having an "experience"

You guys are cracee with your "Hard" and "Expert". For the life of me, I can't get my fingers right if you go past Medium. I can do Medium and get 98% and above everytime, but add that fifth note in there and I'm fucked.
Although, I haven't tried Hard with the Beatles version..maybe it wouldn't be as tough for me...

I love that piano line in "Hey Bulldog". I've never gotten so pumped up listening to piano. And "I Me Mine" is indeed amazing. I love George Harrison's songs. I didn't think I'd be as attracted to his stuff over Paul/John. Great stuff.
