US, September 1, 2009 - When it was announced yesterday Disney purchased comic giant Marvel Entertainment, questions were raised about the future of many upcoming licensed titles from videogame publishers.
SEGA has several Marvel titles in development, including Iron Man 2 set for a release in 2010. The publisher says the deal has no effect on any of its upcoming games.
"We congratulate Disney on its acquisition of Marvel and look forward to working with both companies on future ventures. At this time, there are no changes to SEGA's existing licensing agreement for the Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America video game titles," a SEGA spokesperson told IGN.
"We're hard at work on the Iron Man 2 game and committed to making all three of these titles hugely successful working right alongside the combined forces at Disney and Marvel."
Activision is set to release another licensed titled early this month, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. While the publisher was unable to issue a statement at this time, they informed IGN the title would not be effected by the recent Disney purchase.
We're still waiting to hear word about THQ's Marvel Super Hero Squad, a game based on the animated series. Given how other publishers aren't having any problems with their titles, we expect the same for this game as well.
Good to hear.
