I'm getting one friday for my birthday. This is my first time straying away from the playstation platform as a min gaming console. So, I'm pretty much a noob at xbox because all my friends have ps3's. So I'm asking for help as in which are the best games and basically a guide to 360 for dummies.
Mass Effect, Crackdown, Halo 3 are the exclusives i can think of off the top of my head. most will say Gears of War 1 and 2 but i didn't like em. Dead Rising 1 is good as well.
I know the newer versions are supposed to be better, but I would still make sure the system is set up somewhere well ventilated.
As for games, there are tons of great games. Stuff like Fallout 3, Mass Effect, any of the COD games, any Halo, and the awesome BioShock. It really depends on what kind of games you like.

Good call. Dead Rising was actually the game that got me converted to a 360. Other than a lot of my friends have PS3s, i don't regret it at all.
It sucks having to pay for XBox Live to go online, but you get so much more for it.
So does the 360 break easily or die quickly? I heard stories that it has.
It breaks all the fucking time. Definitely make sure you have a nice warranty. I just got my fourth Red Ring of Death and I don't even play that much. It's fooking ridiculous.
Meh, anyway, a lot of people have brought up some good games and I haven't gotten a new game in nearly a year so I can't speak on any good recent ones. Assassin's Creed is pretty fun, even if it has a bit of repetitive gameplay. Definitely worth a rent at least.
The GOW series is recommended, especially if you plan on buying a live subscription with your XBox.

Luck of the draw. Mine is going on two and a half years without a single problem. I know a few others who have had similar lack of problems. And people who have had nothing but problems.
