US, May 7, 2009 - There can never be enough of a good thing. That theory is to be tested by Activision this fall with the release of four new games in the Guitar Hero franchise. Guitar Hero 5, DJ Hero, Band Hero and Guitar Hero: Van Halen are officially on the docket for release by year's end. These four add to an already full roster of Guitar Hero games as Guitar Hero: Metallica released earlier this year and Guitar Hero: Smash Hits comes to stores in June.
That is the sound of a franchise mooing. Yes, it's been milked.
Details on the three games remain sparse, but all four are expected to be revealed at this year's E3 convention in early June. Guitar Hero 5 is the true sequel to last year's World Tour and adds the ability for players to drop in and out of songs, change band members , instruments and difficulty levels "on the fly." DJ Hero gives folks a break from playing rock songs by providing a turntable controller and allowing gamers to enjoy hip-hop, R&B, Motown and electronica songs. Band Hero is an E10+ rated game for the entire family with a track list that will have broad appeal. As for the Van Halen, Activision finally confirmed its long-rumored release. Along with classic Van Halen tracks, the game will also include songs from numerous other bands including Weezer and Queen.

"Guitar Hero has made music social again and has become one of the most popular ways to experience music," said Dan Rosensweig, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Guitar Hero franchise. "Today's fans enjoy a variety of music and are looking for more ways to engage with their favorite songs, artists and fellow fans. These games will let them listen, participate and socialize with music in ways they have never been able to before."
Getting slightly silly now with all these releases, they should just put them all into one game and update via dlc.
