This isn't a very intricate thread but I was just wondering what people think about wrestlers in tag teams wearing the same gear. I know a lot of people think it's just minor details but it looks like wwe is finally trying to rebuild the tag team divisions lately, and with me it just makes it more believable if the wrestlers are in matching attire because it gives the illusion that they are a true tag tam and not just waiting to go single.
For example look at the jimmy wang yang and jam master jay they are a great pairing for a tag team and you don't have to change there personas because the cowboy asian and the white rapper gimmick are great. I just think it looks like wwe is just sticking two wrestlers together to fill air time but if they had them wearing the same tag attire then it gives the apperance they are going to give the tag team a solid go.

It depends. If the wrestlers arent established enough as individual's, I think it helps. They dont have to be identical though, but some similarity that fits the gimmick helps.
In the case you mentioned though, Id say they look retarted.
I'm really tired of the urban / street clothes look. I feel it would be just as inappropriate to see men in tights fighting in an alley way. However, I guess I would probably enjoy the latter somewhat so I have no case. But I will say this... I preferred Croft/Baretta when they had a slightly similar color tone but not matching outfits to when they utilized matching outfits with separate color schemes. If they had matching outfits and color schemes, well, they'd be the same person.
I like the idea of tag teams wearing matching clothes. Kind of a throwback one, so I'm all for it. ie: the Killer Bees.
And I also agree that the street clothes thing has run it's course for the most part. For some guys, it works. But at some point it became overkill.
Yeah. I like it when it's used for emphasis instead of just a cheap way to establish character. For instance, Cryme Tyme could be a bunch of thug bangers without wearing jeans, but that would take actual story and development rather than just simply putting them in street clothes.
I'd love to see a storyline where CM Punk's straight edge lifestyle "saves" JTG. He can switch to athletic gear, leave all that awful "cryme" behind, improve his maneuverability, and have a quick little feud with Shad before moving on to better things. And in this instance, Shad's appearance would lend itself to the story so I have no issue with that.
Yeah if you look at tag teams such as the Hart Dynasty and tag teams from other eras such as the Headbangers, The Hardyz etc they all had similar attires and acted the same way and had a great understanding as a team. Now it seems Vince wants to have a division and create teams that have a similar understanding and I hope it develops further.
I think you either need near uniformity or a working contrast in both appearance and style. When I say working contrast it can be as simple as say the New Age Outlaws where Billy Gunn was more of the athlete with pure strength and speed and Road Dogg incorporated a showmans simple brawling style with much less of the power and athletic ability. Edge and Christian are another good example, Edge was more of a high risk speedster and Christian worked a smarter more grounded style. In both cases there were no more than 2 inches and about 20 lbs difference to their bodies, they were just used differently to compliment each other.
