Rep Power: 3 ![]() | All information from www.arsenal.com Can Arsenal take their form from the Bernabeu to Blackburn this weekend? The answer to this question could shape the remainder of the campaign for Arsène Wenger’s side. The 1-0 victory at Real Madrid certainly has the potential to be pivotal. But only if they can back it up on their Rovers return. All looks well in the Champions League this season; qualifying for next year’s competition hangs in the balance. Never mind fourth-placed Tottenham. There’s Bolton, West Ham and Saturday’s in-form opponents to consider. Away form continues to be the problem. Until now the Continental croissant has been certainly more palatable than the bread and butter of Premiership trips. Wenger, however, has a recipe for change. “We have to deal with a different kind of problem and sort it out,†said Wenger. “At Real Madrid we faced a more technical problem. But this year, more often that not, we have faced a physical problem in the Premiership. “I feel we are dealing with that better than three or four months ago. That is what we want to show now but we are still not good enough to be completely sure we can transfer that result on Saturday.†Freddie Ljungberg injured his calf in Madrid and misses the game but Emmanuel Adebayor is available after he was cup-tied in midweek. Dennis Bergkamp is in training after his calf problem but will not be risked. In addition Robin van Persie (toe), Sol Campbell (ankle), Ashley Cole (thigh), Pascal Cygan (hamstring), Lauren (knee) and Kerrea Gilbert (back) are still injured. It leaves Wenger reliant on his youngsters once more. For example, Bergkamp’s omission has allowed 18-year-old Arturo Lupoli to step into the squad. “We miss still a little bit of experience,†said the Frenchman. “It's difficult as well to evaluate all the data because we had the month of January without Lauren, Kolo, Campbell and Cole. “You start the season and think what's the back four - Lauren, Kolo, Campbell and Cole. But you finish up playing Seb Larsson, a right midfielder, at left back. People destroy the Club and I can understand that because the results are not there but you have three left backs out and they kill Larsson, who has done extremely well. “I feel Madrid will give all the young players a boost. They needed one because they have always been surrounded by negative vibes for months now. “No matter how well we play there's not a good word said about us and when you are 19 or 20 years-old that has certainly a weight on your mind. Of course on that side Madrid will give us a big lift. But the biggest lift will be consistency.†And that will be a difficult trick to pull off against Mark Hughes’ rapidly developing side. “Blackburn are a team on the up,†said Wenger. “They are physically very strong and their commitment is very high. We saw that against Manchester United recently. “That is why we have to produce the same kind of performance we had at Real Madrid.†If Arsenal play like they did at the bernabu then we should dominate this match but Blackburn have neen in good form as of late so i think this is another tough away game for Arsenal this season. |
