If he's close to the goal & he shoots he's not going to get booked. If he's 45 yards out & continues then he deserves it but as i said, only players who are close to goal will shoot.

If your 45 yards out & get thru one-on-one from a pass & still get flagged, chances are its the right call. When the play gets closer to the goal, more players are involved & thus mistakes are made. That far away from goal, defensive lines are usually pretty solid so its an easy spot for the linesman, when the players start running back towards goal the line is lost & it becomes harder to call.

Besides, any linesman that gets an offside wrong 45 yards away from goal shouldent be a linesman.

Okay, take this scenario... Babel goes down in the area (it isn't a foul), Almunia collects the ball and launches a counter attack in which Arsenal have a goal scoring opportunity. When does the ref stop the game to look at a replay? The ball never goes out of play.

Or maybe... Adebayor smashes the ball against the cross bar, and it bounces down to the floor and doesn't go over the line... then bounces out. Does the ref then stop the game and have a look at the replay to see if the ball crosses the line, or does he let play go on (as the ball has not gone out of play) and allow the other team to counter attack.

There are 100s of different scenarios like those. The only reason replays are used in other sports is because the games are stopped and the ball has gone 'dead'. This won't necessarily happen in football.

I have to agree with Invictus, replays spoil rugby (I’m a Union watcher not League) and our games are disrupted just as much. Refs can’t even make a decision on easy things. Would you be happy sitting in the crowd and having to wait 2 mins while the Television Match Official looks at the foul from 104 different angles? Also it takes away that instant joy. Waiting to see a decision on a screen 2mins after it happens doesn’t make you jump out of your seat and jump for joy, it’s more of a half hearted shout of Yes!

In my experience, most decisions even themselves out over the course of a season. Some weeks you get them, some weeks you don’t. That’s just life.

The replays i want for big calls that the ref potentially got wrong not for when he cant decide.

Well that undermines the ref's decision then. Who would call for the decision to go upstairs to a TVO?

Like i said, the managers have three calls that can be used for controversial goals/disallowed goals, scoring but then being dissalowed for offside/allowed depite being offside & penalties.

Whats so hard about that?

I'm just against technology being brought in. It's a good theory on paper, but everything sounds good on paper.
