Recommend Sports Books

What sports books (genuine sports...not wrestling!) have you read recently that you would like to recommend?

I have read the Bobby Charlton book which, even though I am a not a Manchester United fan, was a very fine read.

I've also been told the Gavin Fryday (sic) book was awesome and will be keeping an eye out for it.

The Mike Doyle book is a very good read as is Rodney Marsh's.

And going back a couple of years I really enjoyed reading Roy Keanes book

I'm surprised you liked Keano's book Shaun.

Oh and the other book I meant was "Robin" Friday. Gavin Friday is the god damn Irish singer!

Re: Recommend Sports Books

As big of a sports fan as I am, I don’t really read that many sports books. I’ll only read autobiographies of past players/managers once their careers are more or less done.

Roy Keane’s was a good read, as was Sir Alex Fergusons. Gazza’s is an okay book, just because he is an interesting character, and it talks about his alcoholism and gambling addictions.

At the moment I’m going through a phase of reading American sports books. I have Education of a Coach, which is about New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and after that I’m going to read The Last Night of The Yankee Dynasty – a book about the New York Yankees baseball team

Re: Recommend Sports Books

I'm guessing these are non wresltling realted books so in addition to those already mentioned..

Steve Claridge's autobiography
Play.com (UK) : Tales from the Boot Camps : Books - Free Delivery

and

Vinnie Jones' autobiography
Play.com (UK) : Vinnie: The Autobiography : Books - Free Delivery

They're both a little out of date now but they're both worth a read. Down to earth characters being honest about everything from anger issues, gambling & alcohol addiction. Simlar to Gazza's in that respect
