| Toshack must resign says Savage Toshack must resign says Savage ![]() Robbie Savage has renewed his attack on John Toshack by branding the national set-up an "utter shambles" and calling on the Wales manager to quit. Blackburn midfielder Savage has not played for Wales since being left out of Toshack's first squad two years ago. The 32-year-old, who has 39 caps, retired from international football after being excluded. "It really is time Toshack called it a day. He has failed and along the way forced players to retire," Savage said. "If he was honest with himself, he'd look in the mirror and say, 'I've failed' and walk away. It would be the honest and truthful thing to do." Savage launched his attack on the morning before Wales play a crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against the Czech Republic in Cardiff. The match will be the last in a Wales shirt for captain Ryan Giggs, who retires from international football after that match to concentrate on club duties for Manchester United. "Ryan Giggs is about to play his last game against the Czech Republic and he couldn't be calling it a day at a better time. Our game is an utter shambles," Savage said. "I watched the friendly against New Zealand last week, when we drew 2-2. Blimey, Blackburn beat the Kiwis last summer 5-0. "That was a disaster, with no redeeming feature. Yet he (Toshack) tried to find some. It was seriously humiliating." Savage says he would not return to play for Wales even if Toshack was to leave. "International football is behind me now," Savage added. Credit - BBC Sport | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Toshack must resign says Savage Ha Ha…. Why was this posted? It’s utter garbage. Anyone who’s seen Wales play lately know that Savage is talking out of his arse. I like Savage, but this time he’s gone too far. He’s shown he’s bitter and regrets throwing his toys out of the pram. Here’s what John Toshack has brought to the welsh national set up since he took over. - Giggs playing regularly for Wales. No other manager got him playing as regular as he had been before his retirement. Not even Mark Hughes. - Bringing through and blooding young players with genuine international experience, e.g. Cotterill, Bale, Leadly, Nyatanga, Duffy. - He’s got Gabbidon realizing he’s our best defender, and he’s playing with more intensity. - We’ve developed a smashing passing game, it’s as good as any of the top Premiership sides. - He’s got Koumas back involved, and keeping faith with him, making him feels like he belongs there, and in turn Koumas has been playing some awesome football. - He’s brought the pride back into playing for Wales. Players now have to earn the right and want to play for Wales. Slackers and moaners aren’t given the time of day e.g. Thatcher, Savage, Oster. And to conclude, Tosh himself summed it all up with a statement he made after reading Savages’ comments: Quote:

| Re: Toshack must resign says Savage Lol, I thought I'd leave it to a Welshman to answer this first. Robbie....as a player you never played at the level Toshack did, and as a manager (unless you also go on to manage your nation and Real Madrid) I can pretty much guarantee you never will either. You're just sore because he dumped you almost as bad as Michael Hughes did (although at least this time you managed to keep your shorts on!!) | |||||||||||||||
