| Van Persie out for rest of season? The season of Arsenal striker and Dutch national Robin van Persie may have reached a bittersweet end after equalising against Manchester United on Sunday.
Suffering from an underestimated injury, manager Arsène Wenger reveals that the left footed marksmen's injury may have brought an abrupt end to his season.
It was originally thought that Arsenal's top scorer would be out for about six weeks; however, Wenger explains that the metatarsal break will most likely sideline his striker for closer to eight to ten.
Wenger said: "Ideally you would say six to eight weeks but as well it could be ten.
"That means April and you are close to the end of the season and you'll need to get back to your best level. I hope it will be six weeks but that is really optimistic."
With eleven goals and a third place position on the Premier League's top scorers list, van Persie's injury could be a devastating blow to the offensive productivity of the in form Arsenal side.
Unfortunately for the Gunners, the injury woes of the 2006/07 season continue to grow.
During the Carling Cup tie hosted by Tottenham, Arsenal managed to draw level at the expense of injuries to Alexander Hleb, Emmanuel Eboue, and Jeremie AliádÃ*ère.
The recent personnel troubles have left several fans to anticipate some type of signing to cope with Arsenal's several injuries. |
