U.S. Moves Up to Fourth in FIFA Rankings From Associated Press April 19, 2006 1:41 PM EDT ZURICH, Switzerland - The United States moved up one spot into fourth place in April's FIFA world rankings, the Americans' highest showing. The U.S. ranking went up despite a 4-1 loss at Germany and a 1-1 tie at home against Jamaica last month. Defending champion Brazil maintained the top spot, which it has held since taking over from France in July 2002. The Czech Republic, which plays its World Cup opener against the United States on June 12, remained second, followed by the Netherlands. At the World Cup, the United States also plays Italy, which dropped two spots to 14th, and Ghana, which stayed at No. 50. Spain is fifth, Mexico sixth and France seventh. Argentina dropped four spots into a tie for eighth with Portugal, and England is 10th. World Cup host Germany moved up three places and is tied with European champion Greece at No. 19 | |

Rep Power: 77 | Hate to burst your bubble, but rankings are largely unreffered to in World Football (soccer). They have a very complicated way of calculating the quality of sides and quite often it shows up how bad it is when you see how some sides perform then in a major championship. You guys made the last 8 last time though four years back....if you get as easy a route this time you could make the last 8 again!! | |
