LONDON, June 22 (Reuters) - Slavia Prague have protested to UEFA about Liverpool's admission to next season's Champions League which looks certain to deprive the Czech side of a seeding in the third qualifying round.

"We have lost our seeding now for the third preliminary round and could face Manchester United, for example," Slavia spokesman Alexander Kliment told Sky Sports News on Wednesday.

UEFA director of communications William Gaillard confirmed that the Czech Football Association had contacted the ruling body.

"We have had very preliminary discussions over this and we are seeking a solution," Gaillard told Reuters.

"At this stage we don't know exactly what they want, they have only mentioned the seeding issue and not spoken about our decision allowing Liverpool back in to the competition."

He said a Slovakian team would also lose their seeding because of Liverpool's return, though it is not yet known which side will be affected as their season has not finished.

Slavia finished second in the Czech championship last season behind city rivals Sparta Prague.

Liverpool won the Champions League final in extraordinary fashion last month after overturning a three-goal halftime deficit to beat AC Milan on penalties in Istanbul.

However, as they had finished outside the automatic Premier League qualifying positions they would not have had the chance to defend the title but for a change in UEFA regulations ensuring the holders will always participate in future.

Liverpool must get through three preliminary rounds to reach the Champions League. Their first game will be on July 12 or 13. The draw for the first qualifying round is on Friday.

Liverpool kick off the defence of their european cup against TNS... last time TNS played and english side in European Comeptition it was against Man City and they moved the game to Cardiff, hopefuly they do the same again, as I'll go to that match.

I was listening to the owner speak to sky sports and he said the Racecourse could only hold 9,000 because under UEFA rules you cant use the terracing and he says he sees more than 9,000 fans wanting to go to the game, and will look to see if the millennium stadium.

either way an announcment is expected on monday.
