Keane set to become Sunderland Manager

Keane played with Quinn during their international careers with the Republic of Ireland.

Former Manchester United assistant boss Brian Kidd is set to take up the same role in the new managerial team.

Keane and Quinn also share the same lawyer and agent in Michael Kennedy.

But neither the ex-Manchester United midfielder or the Stadium of Light club confirmed any appointment.

Sunderland said in a statement: "No new managerial appointment has been made at this time.

"The club is in discussions with a high-profile figure and is hopeful an announcement will be made in the near future."
So then Mikk, what'cha think?

This could be quite a good appointment. He'll have Brian Kidd with him, who's got a wealth of experience which will help Roy. Roy'll demand instant respect from the dressing room, and he'll take no sh!t. Something I don't think Nail Quinn could do. He seemed too nice, if that makes sense.

There was never any doubt that Roy would get involved in management. I would have liked him to have maybe learned his stuff at a lower lever, but he now has the opportunity to prove his managerial credentials. Now I'll be taking a closer look at Sunderlands results and performances.

Bang goes my Alan Curbishly choice.

I'd of liked someone with a reputation instead of an untested manager at the helm.

Yes Brian Kidd will be with him but i would of liked someone with at least 2/3 years in charge first.

But then again, it could be someone else and this could be fabrication and Quinn pulls a big swerve and brings in someone top quality.

He certainly isn't the World Class manager i was expecting.

And also i think he is a horrible person that should stay well clear of football management, certain incidents during his career have tarnished him.

The Alf Inge Haaland incident is the one that sticks out in my mind the most.

You don't intentionally go out onto a football field to injure someone and end their career, its just not sporting.

~Edit~

From SAFC.com

Sunderland AFC can confirm that contrary to reports in the media, no new managerial appointment has been made at this time.
The club is in discussions with a high-profile figure and is hopeful an announcement will be made in the near future.

Maybe it isn't Keane afterall.
