Vieira in Milan for Interazionale medical

Updated: Aug. 1, 2006

Patrick Vieira will complete his move to Inter Milan tomorrow, according to the club's owner Massimo Moratti.

The Juventus midfielder, 30, arrived in Milan today to have a medical and sign a reported four-year deal.

After meeting up with the Nerazzurri's sporting director Marco Branca, the France international is close to securing the switch after only one season with Juve.

'Is it his first day at Inter today?' said Moratti.

'Let's just say it is his last day for the Bianconeri.

'Tomorrow he should sign a contract and become an Inter player. He will sign a four-year contract.'

Vieira's move would see him return to the San Siro from where Arsenal plucked him a decade ago when he was an AC Milan reserve.

Juve have announced that Vieira would be the final departure from their squad, which has been depleted on the back of demotion to Serie B because of their part in Italy's match-fixing scandal.

Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta have left for Barcelona, while Emerson and Fabio Cannavaro transferred to Real Madrid.

Undeterred, Moratti is also hopeful of persuading Juve to part with Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as well as signing Luca Toni from Fiorentina, who were also caught up in the match-fixing scandal.

He said: 'It doesn't depend only on them. The arrival of one or the other depends on their clubs, us and the players themselves.

'They are both very attractive, even if they are different.'

Viera is washed up now... The World Cup was has taken his last good matches out of him. I'm glad Man Utd didn't go after him.

I'm still in a little shock over the 18m move of Carrick.

He is good but surely not that much, especially for a defender/midfielder.

Well it was only £14m downpayment, and United won't pay it all unless they win the Championship & Europen Cup for the next 3 years or so.

You also have to take in to account that Chelsea gave Man Utd £12m for John Obi Mikel, a player who never played for the club, so in a way Chelsea bank rolled the Carrick deal for United. Good bit of business if you ask me.
