Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Championship Round-Up (soccer) It was a good day for Watford in The Championship, and they did not even play, as none of the top three won. Leaders Reading were held at home by Wolves, while second placed Sheffield United lost to Norwich at Carrow Road. Bobby Convey opened the scoring for The Royals, but Kenny Miller's second half equaliser secured a share of the spoils. The Blades opened the scoring at Norwich through Chris Armstrong, although goals from Leon McKenzie and Rob Earnshaw turned things around. Leeds are now just four points off The Blades after claiming a late 1-1 draw at Coventry City. Gary McSheffrey gave City a first half lead, but David Healy's late penalty secured a late point for The Whites. Adrian Boothroyd's Hornets can now close to within three points of second placed Sheffield United at Southampton on Monday. Crystal Palace failed to capitalise on the top clubs failing to claim all three points after drawing with Ipswich Town. Aki Riihilahti gave Iain Dowie's side the lead, but Tom Soares' own goal levelled matters at Selhurst Park. Clinton Morrison restored The Eagles' advantage, although Ricardo Fuller, who was later sent off, secured a point. Lowly Sheffield Wednesday boosted their survival prospects with a 2-0 success over play-off hopefuls Preston. Goals either side of half time from Deon Burton and Burton O'Brien gave Paul Sturrock's side the points. Cardiff were the only team in the top eight to win with Steve Thompson's 34th minute goal giving The Bluebirds a 1-0 win at Plymouth. Hull edged out Crewe thanks to Stuart Green's early strike while Steve Howard's third goal in four games lifted Luton over Derby. Leicester City continue to impress under Rob Kelly and they won at Millwall courtesy of Stephen Hughes' first half goal. Burnley's poor run of form continued after Paul Gallagher's 52nd minute goal gave Stoke all three points. QPR assumed an early lead against Brighton but shot themselves in the foot as the score finished 1-1. Gareth Ainsworth put the home side ahead, but they were a man light shortly into the second half when Kevin Gallen was sent off. A late Marcus Bignot own goal allowed The Seagulls to leave Loftus Road with an unlikely point. Coventry 1-1 Leeds Crystal Palace 2-2 Ipswich Hull City 1-0 Crewe Luton 1-0 Derby Millwall 0-1 Leicester Norwich 2-1 Sheffield United Plymouth 0-1 Cardiff QPR 1-1 Brighton Reading 1-1 Wolves Sheff Wed 2-0 Preston Stoke 1-0 Burnley thanks to skysport for the scores |
