TNA doesnt have one future main eventer worth watching!
Take note of the word future.
I'm currently looking over TNA's roster, and while it is stacked with potential talent, I cant find one wrestler who I'd be willing to pay to see in the main event. They have Samoa Joe, who was once a ruthless wrestler, but these days he seems horribly weak. He has lost by low blow two straight times, and before those two loses, he did nothing but bitch and complain. In the ring he does some amazing things for someone his size, but his selling most of the time is just off. He'll sell an ankle injury for about 5 minutes and then he's bouncing off the ropes with clotheslines and Im just left thinking, wtf? 0_o
Then we have AJ, who does some amazing things in the ring, but on the mic he is rather sad and ever since that Prince AJ angle, I just cant shake that dumb redneck who is a product of incest, feeling. As main eventer he should be able to sell his rivalry on the mic and in the ring. Besides that, I just dont find him as fun to watch in the ring. He has seemingly become a more ground based wrestler who pops off a highflying move here and there. The example that comes to mind is of a Rey Mysterio.
Then we have James Storm & Robert Rhoode. I suppose I'll start with Storm. He has a funny character that attracts me to his matches, and he does put on some watchable matches, but I have yet to see a match that really impressed me. Ive been used to the WWE style of main eventers for over 20 years, and that what TNA hopes to be some day. James Storms overall look doesnt scream "Main event" to me and neither do his matches. As for Robert Rhoode, he has the look, he has the ability, he has the character, but Jesus "Habib" Christ, can he add a unique move in there! Even his finisher is lame for a show that is supposed to be non stop action. Ive seen people get up after being tossed through flaming objects and down the line Im supposed to believe they cant get up from a fishermans suplex?
I suppose thats it for my mini rant or whatever you want to call it. I'd add Abyss and Matt Morgan to the list but I think Morgan is very over rated and I have serious doubts about Abyss' future in TNA. Moral of this thread.... Awesome Kong for TNA Champion! Re: TNA dosnt have one future main eventer worth watching!
Haha, I gotta admit I laughed at the "Closet TNA fan" in your sig. I'd say the only wrestler from TNA that really has that star aura about them is AJ Styles. If he's booked correctly he could be huge.
Re: TNA dosnt have one future main eventer worth watching!
It's a shame but it's all very true.
I can see Joe and AJ being worthwhile main eventeres if they are pushed in the right way, but as it stands you make very valid points. Joe's character has turned in to a moaning little bitch, and AJ's coming of a comedy run that made him look like a second rate lacky to Christian Cage and Kurt Angle.
Once again, I blame the writers, cos it's not as if the roster doesn't have the talent to build a promotion around.
Re: TNA doesnt have one future main eventer worth watching!
If AJ and Joe were booked correctly, I feel both could easily be quality main eventers. I think AJ has improved loads on the mic and can actually put on a good promo now, and he doesn't look that ridiculous in the ring with bigger guys like he once did.
While Joe's selling may be off I feel it's more so his character, or lack of, that hurts him the most at this point. He's just an angry samoan who bitches and screams a lot but never gets anything done.

Re: TNA doesnt have one future main eventer worth watching!
The crowd reactions AJ gets are enough for me to believe he is a great future (and past lol) main eventer. AJ Styles could carry the company for years imo. He is one of the best in the business, and reminds me of HBK in that he is so exciting to watch and always gets the fans into his matches. He just needs to be booked right. With Joe's reign, they kind of waited too long and then it seemed like an anticlimax when he was given the belt. I still think Joe has a lot to offer though, and could easily be a great Champion in future.
Storm and Roode could both be great heel Champions. Storm would just need more of a serious push, like he was getting in the Rhyno feud in 2007. He has the look, gimmick, charisma and ring ability. I personally prefer him to Roode although he too has these qualities and could be a heel Champ.

I like, not love, a whole lot of their wrestlers.
Their roster at the moment reminds me a small bit of WCW's when things were good there. Lot's of main eventers there at the moment who I have no particular interest to see. And lots of young talent who, whilst I love their mid card/under card matches, I don't see any potential in them being future main eventers.
Maybe they'll surprise me. Like that buttsecks smilie tends to

Actually they kind of do. Did you notice how horrible the Sting & Rhino match played out while the Double J and Angle match was done rather well. Sting is the champion and yet Angle and Steiner get more mic time than him. I dont know if thats by design, but I'd think they would want to have their champion as the leader of the stable not to mention the main attraction of the show. Also, when Samoa Joe was champion, it was more about Nash trying to teach Joe than Joe actually being champion.
