The people you named are nearly already main eventers. or are main eventers IE/ Joe and AJ have held the World title. On closer look you can see guys like Homicide & Hernandez who i think can have great single runs. Same with Shelley and Sabin. Not to mention Kaz/Suicide who showed what he can do against the main guys. There's also Brutus Magnus guy who signed from Gladiators in the UK. Ive seen a few matches his had and there impressive.

You think Joe was booked as a nobody? He was clearly the focus of the show and was made to look very strong. The only problem was they waited too long to put the belt on him and the fans wern't as into him as they once were. His opponents were also pretty boring and it was difficult for him to produce particularly good matches. It definitely wasn't a Punk/Jeff reign though.

The people I named are upper card wrestlers. AJ has never been the main focus point of the company, dispite being around the championship. Joe, while being champion had people around him who took the attention that was supposed to be his. Rhoode and Storm have never been passed the mid cards to be honest. I'm not saying Hernandez, Homicide, Shelly, Sabin, and Kaz wont be great wrestlers, but they can never be a constant main event for their company like Kurt Angle has been.
Re: TNA doesnt have one future main eventer worth watching!
Lets be honest, the last time he was (NWA) TNA champion, was 2004 and even then his title reign was forgettable. Since his last title reign he went on to be a dumb redneck with a crush on another mans wife, while having that stupid Pince AJ gimmick. He was tag team champions with Tomko, but under their reign the division pretty much died and he still looked like that annoying little brother that you want to lock in the closet and forget about for a few years. He then got a role in the Frontline with Samoa Joe, but they have taken the back seat to Rhino and Team 3D. This alone shows that he hasnt been the main focus of the company even though at points he held belts that should have given him main focus within the company.

Joe's reign was utterly forgettable and just mediocre in every, and convinced me the guy isn't half the wrestler he used to be.
He may have been the focus of the show, but did his reign actually accomplish anything? Where is he now? Taking a back seat whilest hasbeens like 3D, Rhino and Foley fight for him.

Re: TNA doesnt have one future main eventer worth watching!
I think Joe could be a centerpiece main eventer if they booked him the right way. The angry Samoan machine works if you keep him looking strong. In a wrestling-based promotion, that should work. TNA seems to want to be more entertainment-based and emulate the WWE instead of providing an alternative.
When was TNA ever not a sports entertainment company?
I'll be honest here - my knowledge of TNA history is limited. I've really only followed through part of the past year, and watched some earlier stuff on DVD. Knew about TNA for a long time, and my perception was always as a somewhat more wrestling-based alternative than the WWE. Still entertainment based, but not quite as much. A few other sorta fans I know had the same perception, so I don't think it was just me, but that's always possible.
Re: TNA doesnt have one future main eventer worth watching!
Their faster-paced, spottier matches helped them gain alot of popularity (amongst the IWC anyway), but they've always been a sports entertainment fed in the vein of WCW.
