Rather simple question really: who has been a better champion; Samoa Joe or Sting?
Joe was a crap champion tbh. It was boring as hell, and he just didn't feel like the face of a company. His promos were alright, and his matches were pretty good, but he just didn't have the feel of a champion. Maybe it was because TNA took so long to put the belt on him. Maybe it was because Kevin Nash was close to him. Or maybe it was just Joe failing. IDK. What I do know is that his reign was boring as fuck.
On the other hand, we have Sting. The guy did not deserve the belt in the least. He barely showed up. A couple of PPV's a year is not enough to get you a shot at the belt, IMO. Who did he beat? No one. What did he do to earn the shot? Nothing. Sting was and is living off of his legacy. he did nothing to earn the belt. Since he has got it, he has been alright. Due to the feud between the Main Event Mafia and the Originals, his reign has some story to it. His feud with AJ was pretty good. Nothing sensational, but still pretty good. that's about as far as we have got now.
Joe definitely did more to earn the shot. But I think Sting has done a better job. As I said, Joe was boring. Sting has at least been interesting to watch. So I go with Sting.
Anyway, cast a vote, and make a post. I'll be able to tell if you voted without posting, because the poll is public, so don't be lazy. >_>

The reason for this is not really Joe's fault though. They really fucked up his push by waiting too long and not putting the belt on him when it would have been a huge deal and everybody loved him. They tried to put it off so it made it more dramatic, but it had the opposite effect because they waited too long, people lost interest and it wasn't the big moment it should have been. Also, the way he won it couldn't have been worse. At Lockdown, in a cage (obviously) in a fucking MMA match. It couldn't have looked less of a big deal. As for his reign, yeah it just seemed boring. He was just predictably going through a load of has-beens, and the fans were not as into him as they were before he won the belt. I don't remember being excited about any match in Joe's reign.
Then we have Sting. I was so angry when he won the belt, but in hindsight it was a very good decision. Joe had become stale as hell while carrying the title. He was much more interesting chasing the belt. Sting, as part of the Main Event Mafia, is actually a very smart choice for Champion and the whole angle means he is a lot more interesting as the champ than Joe ever was.

To early to tell, Sting has only had it a little over a month now. But i'm also going with Sting, his rein so far is very good, and with the whole MEM vs Orginals feud going, i see it being even better in the future.

He hasn't had it long, true, but his reign already has more of a purpose than Joe's did.

Obviously, It's Sting. He worked his ass off his whole career. Like you said, he is living off of his legacy, but imo that's a great reason to have a belt. He's one of the bests, and it gets them more ratings also. SO, yeah. Joe was a boring as fuck champ. I never really liked many of his matches... and he's just... meh. I never liked him. Like Suicidal said... I can't really stick it out, but there was just something HORRIBLY wrong with his reign.

CGS RECORD (2-0-0)
I WOULD HAVE BEEN 3-0-0 BUT CGS WENT UNDER.
I liked Joe's reign actually, he had a good long run and it kind of respectable towards him from TNA that he for instance kept the belt at King of the Mountain and defeated some top guys, I think his reign was TNA's way of saying you know Joe, we trust you and we have good faith in you and we respect you. And the fans rly liked Joe, he was a WRESTLER not so much an entertainer, so I think TNA did a good thing with keeping the belt on Joe for so long. I mean it's long nowadays I guess.
