I have seen a few people here say that Eric Young should be pushed by TNA, but honestly, if I was one of the TNA bookers, Eric Young would be one of the last guys I would think about pushing. He has been used as a comedy character for so long and has really got stale, but in my opinion he fails when used in a serious role due to his lack of intensity, and the fact that he really can't be taken seriously. In the ring I don't see anything to suggest he is worthy of a big push. He could be a decent midcarder, but nothing beyond that. In the past I have seen people say he should be TNA World Champion, which seems pretty laughable to me.
So those who believe Young should be pushed, this is your chance to tell me why I should care about him.

I'm a sucker for a good underdog, and when used right he certainly provides that. Look at the fued with Roode. Ok, it was mostly shit but SERIOUS ERIC YOUNG~! was awesome, hell, most comedy wrestlers getting uber-serious are awesome. He's certainly not a bad wrestler either, he had plenty of good tags back in the Team Canada days, and he's also very charasmatic and over.
I guess it depends on wether or not you like his style or not.

Young is pretty good. He has the guts to bump and do some crazy things, while also being decent on the mat. Like Steve said, back in the Team Canada days he had some good tags, teaming with Roode and Williams.
He needs a new finisher though. Wheelbarrow neckbreaker ftL.

Eric is one of those talents that hasn't been used to the best of his ability thus far in TNA.. a lot like in the way most people who've seen what Homicide can do outside of TNA gripe how he isn't allowed to really show his stuff in TNA. Go check out BSE Wrestling out of Canada, their Adrenaline Cup show in 2006, Eric Young and AJ Styles in the finals.. watch that and tell me Eric Young isn't something special between the ropes.
Just because he's always been in a comedy support role on television doesn't mean that's all he can do.

Young is easily one of the better young talents in TNA. He isn't a spot monkey, he's charismatic, he's talented in the ring and he can actually get himself over by himself. The only problem with Young is that he's been in the comedic role for too long. If they finally decide to drop it and let him be the old school wrestler with a new school twist, the guy can be a main eventer in TNA.

I admit I have not seen anything he has done outside TNA, but for the most part I have not been impressed with the matches he has put on in TNA. Especially one on one, I just don't feel there is enough to him to make me care about him in terms of his wrestling ability. His comedy character doesn't appeal to me, although I will admit that when he is allowed to cut a serious promo, such as last night, he usually does a pretty decent job. The only problem is that it sounds ludicrous when he is talking about being a 'wrestler' and not an 'entertainer' when the only reason he is over is due to the fact that he is a comedy sideshow.

That is the only reason he IS over though....

Well what do you expect when it's all he's done since leaving Team Canada? I'd love to see anyone else in TNA try that same gimmick in 2006 and get over. Young wasn't supposed to get over, yet he became one of the most over acts in TNA. THAT'S talent.

I like Christmas, but I wouldn't care if Eric Young was released tomorrow. >_>
Maybe it is mainly down to TNA's use of him rather than his actual ability, but I still maintain that he hasn't shown enough in TNA for me to consider him an entertaining wrestler. Generally though, TNA have forced me to dislike him with their unbearable booking of him. Same with Sharkboy and Curryman. I want the whole Prince Justice Brotherhood released.
