Do you think TNA should push "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal? I mean come on, I know he got jobbed in maybe one of the quickest matches in TNA history, against Sheik Abdul Bashir for the X Division Championship but I think since becoming "Black Machismo" he has easily won the crowd over and is becoming one of the more popular stars in TNA.
I mean ROH pushed him so why can't TNA? Since joining TNA he's been stuck in the X Division he's been in feuds with people such as Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, and recently Sonjay Dutt so I think that it's time to move him out of there. I know he's involved in this younger talent against the Main Event Mafia but like Samoa Joe and AJ Styles, he could be a bigger star in all of this just like the MCMG were this week.
If they just made him do some big promos on the Main Event Mafia and on IMPACT! he could face someone such as Kurt Angle, Lethal does good but it is Disqualified when the MEM interfere, and after the faces save him, Lethal becomes a bigger talent in TNA and could easily feud for the Legends Championship.
So do you think that Lethal deserves to be pushed now or should he stay in the X Division for the next few years?
I think TNA should push Jay Lethal, but not with the joke Black Machismo gimmick. I mean seriously how can you take a guy seriously when he is trying to be someone else? The only way I see Lethal getting a puch in this whole feud would be for him to go back to being gimmickless Jay Lethal and develop a persona all his own.

I have a similar view on this. I like Jay Lethal's new tights and everything, but the fact that his wrestling style and his promos have taken on the gimmick of the "Black Machismo" is a huge disappointment. I enjoyed Jay Lethal when he was one of the eye catching X Division wrestlers. I agree, he has gotten a bigger push as "The Black Machismo" but I personally want to see him as just Jay Lethal. I would be disappointed to see TNA push him again as Machismo.
I could see Jay getting a push as Machismo because lets face it he has held the X Division title more times as Machismo then he ever did as just Jay Lethal. I just think it's TNA banking on old WWE gimmicks and they really need to develop some of there own guys with their own personas.

I wouldn't say he has been 'stuck' in the X Division. Anything else would have been overpushing him. He had a very good reign as X Division Champion and I really enjoyed him during this time. I thought the Black Machismo gimmick was dumb at first but it certainly got him over and I actually grew to like it. Holding the X title for a long time was great for his career, but just recently I feel he has lost his way slightly and he does need a change of gimmick if he is to progress to main event. The feud with Sonjay Dutt was a bit over the top in my opinion, with the wedding and the whole love triangle. The ladder match was decent but it basically summed up TNA as it was so overbooked and tacky. Hopefully this angle means he will find his feet again and get a more serious push. His Black Machismo gimmick should be toned down at the very least, but preferably ditched altogether.
I don't think he should main event anytime soon, if ever, but not everybody can.

Him dropping the Black Machismo gimmick would mean death for Lethal. What he needs to do is slowly morph the gimmick into something that represents him, make it less impersonation of Macho Man and into its own "thing" that Jay can run with. He's already started doing that to a degree, especially with this last feud with Sonjay. I see big things for Jay, he's really good.. but becoming "generic gimmickless indie guy" isn't the answer.
