This might be more of a question than any sort of analysis, because I have not been able to keep up to date with TNA over the last few months. However, I watched Impact this week and saw AJ Styles getting completely destroyed by Tomko, Booker T, Team 3D and eventually Kurt Angle with a steel chair. I am not completely sure what the hell is going on with the Karen storyline etc, and how everyone turned against him, so maybe someone who watches TNA regularly could fill me in on how this situation came about?
Anyway, this looks like one hell of a face push. To get beat on by that many guys, and completely destroyed and left bloody in the middle of the ring, with the one man who seemingly came to help him turning on him too, it is obvious AJ is getting a HUGE face push. I enjoyed him as a heel because I think he is very charismatic in that role, but to be honest I always preferred face AJ and I think it is great that we are seeing face AJ again.
People were complaining about guys like AJ Styles fading into the background while the big names who made their name elsewhere came in on huge contracts, but now it looks like AJ is going to be a major player rather than someone's lackey, and Joe, of course, is the Champ.
Like I said, I have not watched TNA for a while so if it is old news that he is a face I apologise. I did like him as a lackey and thought he played the role well, but to be honest I will be a lot more interested in TNA if they continue to push AJ like this, which it looks like they will.
I am a Styles mark but I think a lot of people are. He has always been my favourite thing about TNA closely followed by Abyss and Joe, so this is great to see.

Naw. Like, you could see this coming (because KAren/Styles are fake married, he was teaming with a face, he was focusing on other things), but he wasn't full blown face.
I like a cocky AJ heel, not the disaster they put him through with being stupid. He is better going face.

With AJ finally finding charisma and being solid on the mic, I'm glad he's finally getting pushed as a face. Hopefully the charisma isn't only when he's heel To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
One thing is people need to remember, he's not going to be doing 100% spots anymore. He improved as a wrestler and has said in a PWR interview that he won't be doing some of the crazy shit he did years back because of his family. So we get the AJ that actually can do more than just random spots. w00t.

Are you saying that face AJ was just about random spots? He had some great matches with great psychology, and could get the crowd into his matches through more than just random spots.

Did I say all he could do was spots? No. However for several years he relied on spots to get him over. Remember, TNA started in 2002. Joe/AJ/Daniels was 2005. It's not as if AJ came in and had classics. Most of his high regarded matches happened three years after TNA began.
And Tom, to be fair, you have said the main reason you wanted him to turn face was for the "EPIC SPOTS!"
