Thoughts on this angle? I am very against the idea of TNA removing his mask, but if the mask stays on, I think this could be awesome. I think this footage is very well done, and I like the idea of Abyss speaking more than a few words. This video really develops interest in his return, and he was getting very stale before he left due to constant hardcore matches with little reason, so I think this is a great way to freshen him up.
This is the kind of thing which will get people watching TNA in my opinion.

Although, if he's still as destructive, it could work.

Reminds me of Mick Foley when he first came in as Mankind. " Leave a light on Mommy, you're baby boy's coming home!" or something like that. Abyss just needs to come back and throw himself in some tacks for my amusement.
I think the angle will be good for a little while, but then it won't go any farther. He's gonna come back undestructable and destroy everyone in his path. It will be good and exciting, and TNA has a lot of opportunites with this.

Looks like it will be the exact same as the Kane angle. He'll come back, dominate for a while destroying people, some face will stand up to him and they'll have a violent fued.

The thing is though, if he loses the mask, it really will be short term interest in him. After the initial few months he will look like just another wrestler and noone will care.

The same happenend with Kane, when he lost his mask. Over the next weeks he'd power bomb Linda, chokeslam Bischoff off stage and beat anyone who 'pissed him off'. Despite the mask he was really built like a monster, but it wasn't too soon that got stale and he became another generic wrestler.
I see the same thing happining with Abyss, his dominance will be felt for a while until it dies down and he becomes just another hardcore wrestler.
It to reminds me of Mick Foley when he first came in as Mankind. Rocking back and forth and pulling out his hair. They really can't afford having Abyss return without his mask. First off, he isn't a very good looking guy. Second off, the mask is what made Abyss...well, Abyss. You remove the mask the gimmick dies, it's as simple as that and it has been proved several times. The only way I could see them keeping it fresh is that if he has a hard time dealing without his mask and he comes back into using it.
Although this little bit of footage is quite interesting. But TNA can't work all their fancy lights and audio when he is in the wrestling ring to make him look better.
