First, I've been on this site for a while, generally as a lurker, and one who likes a place of variety. I've made a few posts here and there, but I thought I'd make another. Take it only as one person's view on a product he's watched since the Steamboat/Muta days.
I have followed TNA for only the past few years as far as keeping up on story lines go. I used to love finding out what their young talent was up to, and I enjoyed how their product was a strong variation of what was on mainstream TV. I started tuning in to the TV show every week when Sting came aboard as I was a huge fan. Not a mark, but a fan, someone who respected his decision as he grew with the business... once I understood the business.
Sadly though, my time to sit down and watch every week was diminished to a once a month a month, then once every few months. Last night, I watched this week's episode via my DVR and I'll give you my view, through my eyes.
Styles and Joe. Just reading up on thise new vs old writing gave me a bit to look forward to, but I was disapointed. First, Styles seemed very uncomfortable with the mic. THere was no emotion coming through the screen, no passion. Then, those who joined them, were the lower level talent pool that will probably never seen long term main event. Then, the Machine Guns game out, and that was just a weird ending. They go from Joe slapping Shelly to standing side by side with Joe and Styles inviting the MAM to come on down. Why not have them bounce after that slap and leave some more up in the air for the fans to wonder about?
As far as the MEM, I kinda like it, and I really hate it. Sting's business attire looks fits perfectly, and he's playing the heel/respect card perfectly. Angle is a natural to hate. I like him cause he is comfortable and emotional at the same time. Nash, in my eyes made the right choice to stick with TNA, I just hope he's got a little bit of "i'm doing it for the next generation" in him yet. Booker T..... I hated every second. The obvious mix of accents gave me an itch to fast forward. An itch I will regret not scratching.
Let's move on to the MCM helping out a couple fellow "next gen" getting beat down by someone NOT with the MEM. This is where the BAD TEAM should of came down to help in the beating and then the MCM could of made the save. A perfect re entry into the program after what should of been an in ring exit from the slap. Could it be that MEM didn't do a run in since they are a little too 'old' for that?
Then, the part I really disliked. The ending. Scott was a good addition to the group, UNTIL it was obvious he was avoiding Petey. This shouldn't happen, and I really hope it was something meant to question Scott about within the MEM group. Overall the beatdown was weak and the young guys over sold every move.
For the rest of the show, Beer Money inc is a team I ner thought would go anywhere, I still don't know if they have.
Sadly, I've seen more high flying on WWE in recent weeks, than on this TNA show. Unless you coun't the horrible sell on Rhino's gore.
That's all I've got. Take it for what you will.
