I've only been a casual fan, at best, of TNA and i was just wondering who in your opinion has TNA missed a chance with in creating a valuable character to the product. For example, in WWE we know/can argue that they missed the opportunity with Raven, the Coach, Estrada, Jamie Noble, Ultimo Dragon (?), etc.
The first name that I can think of is Low-Ki or Senshi and Christohper Daniels (although i do get a kick out of the Curry Man Character)

Re: Who have TNA missed the boat with?
I don't really know enough about the guys that have been in and out of there for brief spells before the last year or two.
I'm impressed at the mileage and effort they got out of Steiner, there are certain people like AJ and Eric Young where I feel they "over dorked" them and that has ruined my personal enjoyment of them over the last year or so.
They have their reasons (which I don't agree with) but am not impressed by what I consider to be an overeaction to the penalty that MCMG had to allegedly pay for not blading.
I suppose the only other one that I'd say they have "misssed the boat with" for me (and it's not unretrievable) is Mike Tenay. He's not the best play by play guy, but his work (particularly at the time of doing this role for WCW on Triple A guys back in the day) was quite fine in an understated way. I cannot believe that he is actually choosing now to commentate in the way he currently is, so maybe he is being directed to by someone "higher up". Whoever it is, can they kindly stop and tell him to use some self control and stop talking constantly.
Sonjay Dutt IMO this guy has never been X champion which sucks. His Heel even do it was done very badly with him getting his ass kicked by KAMALA should get him fighting for the gold. Bring back his Original Playa from the Himalaya gimmick.
Also Jimmy Rave should be a single wrestler this guy was great in ROH and has skills to be fighting high midcard.

TNA has missed the boat with alot of people. Mr. Kennedy, Paul London, Brian Kendrick, MVP. Then they missed out on guys like Jimmy Rave, MCMG, Sonja Dutt who they gave the man a gay ass gimmick, Samoa Joe who they finally crowned champion. Christopher Daniels, and AJ Styles who they made a wimp out of when he was in the Angle Alliance.
Definetely Robert Roode. The gimmick is genious with his whole accounted as his manager and his wall street gimmick. Its a mix of JBL and Ted dibiase which were both great heels and he is just a phenominal athelte. I was glad to see him in King of the mountain this year but i do think that he deserves to be world champion cause i think he could carry the title extrmely well.

I didn't know Kendrick and MVP were a part of the TNA roster so thanks for that. But were all of them part of TNA just as they were starting out as rookies? Cos if so, i wouldn't consider that being a missed opportunity ONLY because it would be too early to gauge their talent/potential to do anything noteworthy and is more of a punt shot than missing the boat completely.
For example, when Raven was in WWE...he was an established name, he had a wealth of experience and his character was very unique and intriguing...and then he turned into a generic WWE wrestler.
I agree with SlimDust on that one Austin Aries and Roderick Strong werent used at all TNA missed the boat on those two.
They werent used because they refused to do what they were asked. Aries more so than Strong. Take Alex Shelley as an example. Ignore his first run & take it that he came in with Aries & Strong. Shelley did what was asked of him & he was rewarded. When he refused to do what he was asked at Destination X he was punished. Aries & Strong refused & were punished.
Its the same in every company, if you do whatever you are asked to do then you will keep your job. Paul Birchill changing gimmick every few months is a perfect example. The gimmicks suck but he does them anyway & is now getting a push because of it.
