TNA debuted the Terrordome last month. A combination of WWE's Elimination Chamber & Hell In The Cell. Was this a smart move by TNA , trying to be innovative or do you think that this will be something else that TNA will be mocked for.
TNA has created many new innovative matches. They are most notable for Ultimate X, Six Sides of Steel, King of the Mountain, and Elevation X. The Terrordome was the newest arsenal added to the list. It is to TNA what the Elimination Chamber is to the WWE. But here is the difference: The Elimination chamber only starts off with two wrestlers, while the four other competitors are in pods, waiting to have them open, and join the match. So it is more of a waiting game for some than a wrestling match. On the other hand, the Terrordome has every competitor start off, with no pods present. Every competitor is striving to climb the dome and make it to the top, where they climb out, and are declared the winner. The Terrordome showcases the X-Divisions strengths. The Elimination chamber puts a glass ceiling on the roster, by having only the high-card superstars compete. Take No Way Out for example. The competitors were chosen, rather than having qualifying matches to give more superstars a chance to be in the match. The Terrordome gave an open window to all the young X-Division stars by competing in this match. The first match probably won't be a memorable moment for the year of 2008, but down the road, the Terrordome will have a shining moment that no TNA fan will forget. What TNA have done are they are trying to attract viewers with something different. But the terrordome was nto different. The terrodome is Known as the Dome in AAA and is a very well known match over there. But brining it to the US was quite smart after all TNA have a great relationship with AAA. The Terrordome should go quite well if TNA use it again. But next time try to only use two guys or a tag team. It would work much better. Now you said "is this something TNAwill be mocked for". Well Hell No. TNA will be mocked for matches were the try to get a rat or some crap which they have pulle doff before. This match will work extrmely well and could defintely help the x division. especially if its liek a one of thing every year. The Match can also be used to use much unused talent and give them some credibilty in the match. I think we will be seeing this specialty match a little bit more in TNA.
Please correct if anyone sees this differently, but TNA's matches for the aren't all that innovative. More specifically:
6 sides of steal - isn't that basically a regular cage around a 6 sided ring?
Elevation X - for all intents and purposes, this is a scaffholding match in the shape of an X
I didnt know the terrordome was a AAA concept, but if so, it just further's my point in that TNA tend to believe their own hype at times and claim to "innovate" something when all they do is tweak something slightly.

This pretty much looks and sounds like a regular Steel Cage match with a top on it. I mean, sure, there are only so many ways you can alter things, but this does not seem innovative at all.

The idea was AAA's but TNA's structure was far better. The cage actually looked like it would hurt if you got thrown into it unlike AAA. Also in AAA they had support beams at the exit that the winner of the most recent (Name escapes me) used to help pull himself out with. TNA didnt have any thing for the wrestlers to pull themselves out with.
Six sides of steel is a cage match yes, but again the structure has been improved. The mesh is a lot stiffer so doesnt bend like crazy when someone hits it & their is no 12 Inch platform at the top, just one beam that holds the cage together.
Elevation X is a scaffold match with a smaller area to work with.
Saying TNA arent that innovative doesnt hold up. Anyone can steal a match & pass it off as their own, TNA more often than not, change rules or elements to make them unique to TNA. Soome good, some bad.
