How much does the 6 sided ring come into play when you are watching TNA? I personally have a tough time looking past it. It screams of trying to be too different from the tradition.
It also appears to me that alot of more spots SHOULD be more readily available, but the ring just seems so tight and crammed for room.
I think TNA would have a tough time changing at this point to the regular 4 sided ring, but would they have been better off never using it in the first place?

Agreed with necro. They don't have the homegrown that they've developed storylines for. Until they do something with AJ and the like, the ring won't make a bit of difference. Personally, I don't like the ring because the bigger guys can't move in the thing.
I don't like it because it goes against tradition, but that is what TNA was going for I guess.
Something new and different.

Re: Is the six-sided ring holding TNA back?
I've gotta admit I barely notice it. The six sided ring is the least of their problems, and, I'd say it actually has some advantages. God damn it, I like it. There I've said it.

The idea was to be unique, apart from Special events in mexico, TNA is the only company to use six sides. It's a small thing that is there so the casual viewer will know its not WWE or whatever they are watching.
The major advantage of it is improved mobility for the smaller guys (Pretty much everyone except Steiners, 3D & Angle). With a four sided ring you have more ground to cover & less rope space to hit, in turn slowing down matches. Whereas with six sides, you have less ground to cover & more rope space as you get the same effect from anywhere excluding the coners. Resulting in a faster pace.
