Lose Your Illusions

I have a lot to cover & it's all TNA related (Why i'm posting it here). From Slammiversary to The Roster & what i think TNA should be doing.

I'll start with the positive part. Who should be pushed more and what feuds should continue until at the very least Victory Road.

My first choice for a push is probably obvious, Murder City Machine Guns. With Joe winning the X-Division title on iMPACT! i can see MCMG going after the tag team gold. They have undoubtedly some of the best team work i have ever seen by anyone at anytime. They are well suited. Neither is great on the mic tho but, that's what Big Sexy is there for. To see his worth just look at what he has done for Jay Lethal and to a lesser extent, Sonjay Dutt. Sabin & Shelley are both only in their mid-twenties so they could have another fifteen years at this level.

With Sabin to the Tag division who's going to fill his void in the X-Division? How about the forgotten man from Team Canada. Not A-1, the one who could wrestle, Petey Williams. No-one can doubt his ability and his finisher is one of the best in wrestling. The only problem with Petey is he is useless on the mic. I think Petey needs to go back to being a heel. Get a manager, maybe bring back Scott D'Amore, for the promos, & have him feud with Jay Lethal over the X-Division title.

And to fill Alex Shelley's boots, is Kazarian. By the looks of things Kaz is no longer a member of Serotonin. I'd expect to see Kaz vs Raven or Martyr at Victory Road. I'd rather it be Martyr as the two of them know each other so well it would be a great match. Raven, isn't in the condition needed to put on a good match that isn't hardcore or over four minutes. He is getting better, but he still has some way to go yet. Unless it's hardcore or one of Raven's speciality matches, i want Martyr vs. Kazarian.

On to the TNA world title picture now. Jim Cornette has said he wants to shatter the glass ceiling, well i have the answer. Half of it has been done already but i don't know how long it will last. Two wrestlers to the main event picture and it's completely changed. Chris Harris and Robert Roode. Harris is starting a feud with Christian Cage from the sounds of things on iMPACT!, if all goes well he will have another title shot before the end of the year. A few months ago, i wouldn't have even considered Robert Roode. He has improved a lot & i think he is now ready to be against the best TNA has to offer.

I mentioned feuds that need to continue and i have two that have to regardless of what else happens. Abyss vs Christian Coalition and Sting vs Christopher Daniels. Mitchell's monster is coming so let Abyss and Tomko continue to wage war until then. They had the second best match at Slammiversary and it wasnt even promoted before hand! If Tomko can take more bumps like he did, then let them go at it again at Slammiversary then debut Mitchell's new monster after the match, or as a run in to cost Abyss the match. Leads nicely into a feud then.

Sting vs Daniels i doubt is over. It has potential, just once someone tells Russo that it wont end with another lame gimmick match like the Last Rites match. The match at Slammiversary was disappointing but still enjoyable. Sting picked up the win like i called and this should fuel Daniels. Daniels losses to Sting again at Victory Road but beats him after that in the feud ender. What type of match? I don't know, it depends on how the feud goes.

That's who should go up now who should go down.

The first may be a surprise but i think Samoa Joe should be dropped to mid-card. He refuses to take time off to heal up so i don't think he should be in high profile matches. In mid-card matches he wont have to put as much into it so in theory he heels up without missing any time. When he is fully healed have him move back to the main event picture and finally win the World title which he deserves.

Scott Steiner is injured so i think Rick Steiner should be taken off t.v. until Scott returns. That would leave a big void in the Tag division tho. So, i propose dropping Christian Cage & AJ Styles down to Tag team duty. Even if they don't win the titles the other teams would benefit from competing against two of the best in TNA. Imagine MCMG vs. Christian Coalition! Scottie will only be out for about six months. Have Cage & Styles as a tag team for four. After Victory Road they start ad finish the month before the Steiners return.

I said what feud i want to continue so it's only fair to do the opposite. Even tho there is only one. Robert Roode vs Eric Young. It has run its course. Find something new for Eric to do and let Roode move to the main event where he belongs.

Something that has been bugging me is the amount of T.V. time some people are getting.

Two more than any. Hector Geurrero and Mr. Backlund. While i enjoyed Backlund's backstage skits, his in-ring performances have been boring and needless. Hector Geurrero has been even worse. He just stands there and looks at Konnan. It doesn't contribute anything at all to the story lines. Maybe now that Konnan has left, Hector will stay at the commentary position.
That leads me nicely onto two things. The first being the L.A.X.

What are they going to do without Konnan? I've read reports that state they will be receiving a big push soon with Homicide as the mouth piece. I've only seen Homicide talk two maybe three times but i always found him hard to understand. Hopefully this isn't a permanent move and it's just until they find a new manager.

The second being Konnan & Ron Killings quitting TNA. On Tuesday before iMPACT! was taped they both requested to be released from their contracts. Konnan was granted his but no word on Ron Killings. I can only assume he has also been granted his. At Slammiversary he didn't look at all interested and seemed to force the ''Whats up'' shouts. TNA has given him the wwe treatment in recent months. Burying him completely with bad gimmicks. He has been out injured for a while and he wasnt missed so i doubt it'll change anything. Konnan on the other hand was a key part of the success of the L.A.X. He didn't feel he was getting paid what he deserved. He didn't seem to realise he was a manger and not a top star in the company. Both guys are due to go to AAA in Mexico now which Konnan basically runs anyway.

On the subject of releases, their are three people i want to see released. None of them contribute anything to TNA and seem to like down talking the company. The first is the currently suspended Austin Starr. He just seems to prefer bashing the company than working hard to improve his position in the company. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him back again.

The other two are BG & Kip James, The Voodoo kin Mafia. The only use i would have for these guys are as jobbers. Simple fact is they are not needed, dont sell tickets, best years are behind them, boring and they also like to down-talk TNA. When the VKM gimmick started it was good but has gotten boring lately and even my girl Christy Hemme cant make the storyline meaningful. Dump them now. Anyone that isn't going to contribute shouldn't be in the company.

Now onto Slammiversary.

Kurt Angle def. Christian Cage, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe & Chris Harris to become the TNA World champion.

Originally planned to be Jeff Jarret not Chris Harris but due to Jill Jarret passing away (RIP) TNA did the right thing and changed it. Jarrett recommended Harris and he deserves the shot.

Probably the best King of the Mountain match yet. Styles took another sick bump in the match, going off the cage and tru the announcers table. The only man in the match i didn't want to win, won. It seems nearly everyone who joins TNA from wwe gets a title reign sooner or later. While Angle was the best choice i didn't want him to get it.

Jay Lethal def. Chris Sabin to become the TNA X-Division champion.

This one was a little obvious. But, Lethal has worked hard over the years and has earned this title reign even if he did lose it on iMPACT! I'd expect him to have it back soon after Victory Road.

Team 3D def. Rick Steiner & Road Warrior Animal to retain the TNA World Tag team titles.

Changed from Team 3D vs. The Steiner Brothers due to Scott getting injured.

The match itself was OK and Animal was a nice surprise. Other than that not a whole lot to say about it.

Abyss def. Tomko.

Not even promoted and it turned out to be a great match. The only bad thing was when the covers came off the cardboard boxes that Tomko landed on.

Sting def. Christopher Daniels.

Got surprisingly little time but then again when their are ten matches to fit in, others have to be shortened.

Frank Wycheck & Jerry Lynn def. James Storm & Ron Killings.

Wycheck impressed, no doubt about it. I was expecting Jerry Lynn to carry the team but he didn't have to. Storm was right, he does have one thing Wycheck doesn't, guts. I don't know too many people who would take a cradle pile-driver from an untrained wrestler.

Voodoo Kin Mafia def. Basham & Damaja.

Short so therefor not bad. A boring chant started but soon died down. The only highlight of the match was Lance Hoyt turning heel like i called.

Eric Young def. Robert Roode.

I was half right. I said Roode would get the win and he did but Cornette came out and reversed the decision. After that it was obvious Young was going to win with a small package.

Mr. Backlund def. Alex Shelley.

Why the hell did Backlund win? It hurts Shelley more than it helps anyone. And it was a quick loss. If it had went a few minutes at least he could take that from it.

Senshi & Rhino def. L.A.X.

Originally Rhino & Chris Harris but changed as explained in KOTM.

Not a bad match but not great either. The best thing i noticed was how well Senshi worked with L.A.X. I think he could fit very well as the third member.

My card would have looked like this:

L.A.X. vs. Jerry Lynn & Rhino

Chris Sabin vs. Jay Lethal

Team 3D vs. Martyr & Havok due to Scott Steiners injury.

Robert Roode vs. Eric Young.

James Storm & Ron Killings vs. Chris Harris & Frank Wycheck.

Christopher Daniels vs. Sting.

Alex Shelley vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Senshi vs. Petey Williams.

Christian Cage vs. AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe vs. Abyss.

To finish off i want to mention the Jeff Jarrett video that aired at Slammiversary just before the King of the Mountain match. It was the most emotional video i have ever seen in wrestling and wwe could learn a thing or two. Don't do death story lines. They don't work and are disrespectful.
