SImple topic to discuss, but I expect to see some ranged reactions to this to be honest. Do you think Abys makes a credible champion and does he have what it takes to help the company to continue to grow to where it needs to be.

I'm kind of surprised the belt has landed on him. At the moment he feels just like a stop gap champion until they finally put in on Joe (surely that's where it's ulitmately heading).
I'm not a massive TNA watcher though, so maybe he's a lot more over than I thought!?

From my perspective, in 1PW he is the top heel and they have made him the monster he should be in 1PW and that is why he is the 1PW champion for a 2nd time.
As for him as TNA champion, yes he is a credible choice.
For a start, Sting was barely on TV after his title win while Abyss has been working his butt off and has been since he came to TNA.
Abyss has been overlooked for that long in TNA and now he is champion i hope he holds it till at least the new year.
Its a shame he had been overlooked for so long and instead the title went to the WWE rejects instead of him.

I can say he is a credible champion and, has actually deserved the title for quite some time now. I do however, think that this reign will just be a transitional reign, and maybe just last a few pay per views. Abyss has really busted his balls in TNA since arriveing and put on some damn good matches with Christian Cage and, in my opinion those matches were the high light matches of Christian Cage's championship reign. I for one want to see a champion who has a love for the business and will make more than twelve TV appearances over any man who is just living on a name from the 1990s and bleeding a company for as much money for as little TV time as possible.
If it lasts over a few pay per views it would be a bit more than a transitional champion IMO, but yeah. I think that there will be a short lived reign unfortunately. There didn't seem to be a lot of build like there should have coming into this match besides the obvious tournament.

i hope he holds it for a few monthes at least, then drops it to a big face (or heel depends on which way he goes) but stays in and around the title picture.

If you think about it, doesn't that make Sting a transitional champion? I don't know if he is going to win it back. I think Abyss is one of the top heels in TNA and James Mitchell helps make that character good as well.
I think he's champ to give something back to the long-termers in the locker-room. Too many times the strap passed back and forth between Jarrett and the latest signing. I think this is a political way of keeping the mid-card and the guys who have been in TNA for ages a view that they will put faith in them when the time is right.
anyone else think the abyss/sting segment on iMPACT! was very well done. which way do you think he will go? face with sting or heel with james mitchell?
