AJ Styles: The best wrestler you've never seen, Possibly the BEST in the World
Ok.. maybe that's a tad strong. You guys prolly have seen him, but you haven't seen enough of him. Seriously, the guy pulls off moves that I've never seen anyone do and he does it so fluently, beautifully, vividly, whatever..
I'd put him right up there with the likes of Kurt Angle, HBK, Shelton, etc.. Different style of course, complete different kinds of wrestlers, they all have their own things they do really well, but this man can bring it, and I'm surprised WWE hasn't gone after him..
Now, they have gone after him, but they haven't really gone after him. That shows you how little the staff in WWE really knows about wrestlers e of their camp. If they wanted Styles bad enough they could have got him. Thy could have offered him a multi-million dollar deal (incentive laden) contract and landed him..
He'd be a main eventer in under six months I guaratee it and he'd be at the top of their cards for years to come. Future Wrestlemania Main events, everything..
Everytime I watch himhe has a new move I haven't seen and pulls it off perfectly..
But I'm glad TNA has him anyway.. He's the guy if anyone can compete o WWE's level it's him. He's the real Franchise player of this company.
So if you have to.. Tape Impact! or whatever.. Tivo it i you aren't home on Sat. nights, set your VCR like I'm going to be doing, because watching him week in and week out is well worth it.
I agree that Styles is terrific and one of the best in the world. He will be one of my biggest reasons to watch iMPACT every week.
While I can't say for sure whether he would turn down something like a $6 million contract(he does have a family after all), I don't know if he would be willing to wrestle for WWE at any price, and i'm afraid that if he did sign him he would be under-utilized. Although if the WWE did pay him millions I doubt they would be stupid enough to screw up with him like they did with Rob Van Dam.

In some ways RVD is a good parallel, however I do think AJ has more technical wrestling ability as well as the highspots and certainly his brawling is more convincing than Rob's.
I absolutely love watching the TNA PPV's and seeing his matches which are nearly always awesome in much the same way as Benoit and Eddie's matches always used to be say 10 years ago.
If AJ were in WWE though he would almost certainly be asked to change his performance style and, since we would then most likely be seeing him once or twice a week doing five minute bouts and incorporating the same two or three spots every week...would he be better off as a ring performer? Doubtful.
However he would be better known and have far more income. Like with all of us in life he has a choose to make as to whether he wants to be happier in his work or earn more money. Most end up with the "more money" option eventually!
Vince nearly always does what's best for business, but occasionally he shows a mean streak with those that have turned him down in the past so since AJ has turned down WWE previously I'd be a little wary going there too.
I do love TNA's stuff. They have some serious talent that are allowed to show their ability to it's maximum and AJ and Fallen Angel are absolutely off the chart with what they can do.

WWE would turn him into another Cruiserweight jobber. The only 'small' guys to ever break into WWEs elite have been Rey Mysterio (to an extent) and HBK. Two guys in 20+ years To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I think Styles suits TNAs style a lot more than WWEs. WWE pushes personas as well as wrestling ability. Styles' promo work needs a lot of work, and he's nowhere near as polished as he'd have to be to be considered main event talent in WWE. TNA lets him do what he's best at doing, and thats wrestle his ass off.
Having watched some of his RoH stuff with the likes of Amazing Red and Jerry Lynn, he's easily the most entertaining non-WWE employee i've ever laid my eyes on. His moveset is incredible, and you know that WWE would have him change it. What I like about Styles is that his matches are very structured, he's methodical but he's agile and knows how to work over an opponent too. You watch him fighting a rookie, and the difference in class is just immediate, straight off the bat. He wrestled a guy called Jody Fleisch in a UK promotion a while back, and tore the house down. Amazing amazing wrestler. Loved his ironman with Christopher Daniels too.

I was going to add something to this thread, but Creature's post pretty much covers everything I was going to mention.
I'm with the popular majority - WWE would not do justice to A.J. The guy is incredible to watch. His athleticism and in-ring ability puts him well above either of WWE's champions (Cena and Batista) and I consider him on par with in-ring performers like Shelton Benjamin, Kurt Angle, and Shawn Michaels. I'd love to see a 20+ minute match between he and any of those three guys - it'd be a match of the decade candidate for sure.
TNA will be wise to make him the cornerstone of their company as they take the next step into the mainstream. Jeff Jarrett simply doesn't cut it and can't draw a dime compared to A.J. A.J. will be wise to not get lured into WWE, where he'd become a WWE.com Velocity appendage. That's WWE's loss, though - not A.J.'s.
Of coarse WWE would ruin him, Styles is known for his high risk moves and WWE pretty much killed the cruiserweight division by restricting wrestler from doing any high risk moves.
