(Oldcastle, Ontario, Canada) – The self-proclaimed “King of the Mountain” Jeff Jarrett regained the NWA World Heavyweight Title on Thursday night in Oldcastle, Ontario, Canada, defeating Raven with the help of America’s Most Wanted.
In a shocking turn of events, “Wildcat” Chris Harris and “Cowboy” James Storm turned their backs on the fans and aligned themselves with Jarrett, ultimately costing Raven the bout and the World Title.
The NWA World Heavyweight Title match took place under the banner of Border City Wrestling out of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Following the bout, NWA Championship Committee member Larry Zbyszko was in contact with the promoters of the show, and Zbyszko has informed TNAwrestling.com the title change is indeed official.
Thanks to America’s Most Wanted, Jeff Jarrett has fulfilled his proclamation of being NWA World Heavyweight Champion with the debut of “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV on October 1.
“I told Raven…I told EVERYONE that for the good of TNA Wrestling, I needed to be NWA World Heavyweight Champion when we hit SpikeTV!” Jarrett told TNAwrestling.com via phone after the bout. “I knew TNA management was trying to keep me down, so I had to get that title back on MY terms in Canada where they couldn’t stop me! Chris Harris and James Storm were the only ones out of that entire locker room who had the brains to listen to me. They made the right choice! Now roll out the red carpet, because YOUR champion - The King Of The Mountain - and America’s Most Wanted – the cornerstones of TNA - are coming to SpikeTV, and there’s nothing TNA management can do to stop us!”
“Jarrett was right all along – it was time for America’s Most Wanted to finally look after OUR best interests for a change,” Chris Harris told TNAwrestling.com. “We built this company from the ground up and we’ll be damned if anyone was going to take our spot – the spot we RIGHTFULLY own. Who was looking out for us? The fans? TNA management? Raven? No – Jeff Jarrett was looking out for us. And guess what? Now we’ve got his back, and now WE call all the shots.”
James Storm added: “By the way…hey Naturals, shine up the tag team titles – it’s only a matter of time now before they’re coming home, one way or another. Sorry ‘bout your damn luck…”
Raven left the arena immediately following the bout and refused to comment on the situation -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
looks like they decided to let Double J be champion going into Spike TV after all..

I think starting off with the one of the best ECW champions as oppossed to an overexposed and never over former WCW champion would have been much better.
Lets see, guy who helped ECW rise up and give it crediblity, Raven and the guy that was a 2nd rate Flair clone who was never looked at as world champ material, ala Jarrett.
This move may have singlehandely put the kibosh on TNA TV b4 it started, we'll see.......

I hate Jarrett. He thinks he's a main-event guy when in reality, he's a mid-carder. Although it's not surprising since Jarrett was champ when TNA debuted on FSN, I think it's a bad choice. This is a big reason why it's hard to take TNA seriously, b/c Jarrett wins the title whenever he feels like it.
I agree.. There would have been nothing wrong with having Raven as champion going into the new deal.
It's like, are we going to see Triple H win the title going into USA? No.. WWE knows what's best for business (hopefully, and will give Kurt the title To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. )
I don't know what they were taking, didn't they learn earlier this year that the fans hate Jarret the person and not just the wrestler. The guy was never main event calibur and the only reason he is and has been NWA champion is because he is part owner of TNA, it's the same reason Jerry Lawler won the USWA title 23 times.

this does indeed put a damper on their spike debut. stupid Jarret.
I'll have to console Raven when he comes back here in the winter....:ko:
and I even told him not to lose the belt. damnit, doesn't anyone listen to me, I'm always right after all...

Jarrett's so second-rate as a main eventer. He doesn't draw the kind of heat that makes fans want to see him lose. Sure, when he does, it's a good thing, but I'm not going to sit on the edge of my seat waiting for that to happen.
I think TNA would have been better suited to put the belt on a "new" face (e.g. one that fans who hadn't seen TNA yet wouldn't really know). A.J. Styles is obviously the best pick for this but if not him, then Monty Brown would be my second choice. Having one of those two as champion would put over how progressive and different TNA is than WWE (or WCW or ECW).
I agree, AJ Styles would have been a great choice as champ. But I think they wanted to have someone that most people would know since if you don't watch TNA you might not know who AJ Styles is, but most people who have watched WWE or WCW know who Jarrett is.
