Former ROH champion (and current ROH Pure Wrestling champion) Samoa Joe has signed with TNA and will debut with the company at their Slammiversary three-year anniversary PPV in a match against Sonjay Dutt.
In recent weeks, there has been talks between Samoa Joe and WWE, although no word of an official offer was made. The TNA deal will now see Joe stray from the original plans of going into a WWE developmental deal with C.M. Punk. The TNA deal Joe signed will not effect his obligations with Ring of Honor (ROH).
TNA had attempted to sign a Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk match for their PPV before eventually replacing Punk with Sonjay Dutt. The reason was because Punk requested a 45 minute timeslot on the PPV for his match with Joe to try and perform one of their classic ROH matches, and TNA skipped on the idea.
