A look back at the 12 months of Impact

A LOOK BACK AT A YEAR OF TNA IMPACT
by Richard Trionfo @ 11:22:00 AM on 6/4/2005

Since last week marked the fifty-second week of Impact on Fox Sports Net, it meant that unless a new contract was signed, it would be the end of Impact at this time. If you didn’t already know, there is nothing scheduled for TNA until their June 19th Slammiversary: Who’s Your Daddy pay per view. That does not mean that TNA has to be ignored for the next two plus weeks. This was originally supposed to honor Jeff Jarrett spending a full year as the NWA World champion that could not happen because A.J. Styles (with some help from Tito Ortiz) defeated Jeff Jarrett to win the NWA World Title. Despite falling short of a year, Impact lasted a year.

Here is my tribute to Impact, to the tune of ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’. (The original title was ‘The Twelve Months of Jarrett’). Before you send the e-mails, I know that some of the events do not match chronologically with the lyrics, but they fit the song better. Some did not even occur on Impact.

I was expecting so much more out of Impact!

I know they only had an hour to work with but 85% of the show was total crap every week. Why did they constantly bring out guys such as Phi Delta Slam and David Young to wrestle, and most weeks top performers like Sabin or Petey would be sitting around doing nothing?

You would think they'd want to get those guys on free tv as much as possible to give the folks at home who don't know shit about the brand a taste of what they could see on a PPV.

To be honest I never expected much from it other than a possible stepping stone to a better timeslot and show.
