OFFICIAL TNA “iMPACT!†RESULTS
Thursday, April 13, 2006 – Orlando, FL
Total Nonstop Action debuted on Thursday nights with “iMPACT!†on Spike TV as Christopher Daniels was set to defend the X-Division Championship against the undefeated “Samoan Submission Machine†Samoa Joe.
“The Fallen Angel†Christopher Daniels showed no give in his battle against Samoa Joe while defending his newly won title for the first time. Samoa Joe on the other hand made the match imminent in favor of winning the X-Division Title for the second time when he delivered the Island Driver from the top rope. For the better part of the last 5-minutes during the match, Daniels was put in a state of dismay after taking numerous kick shots wildly to the side of his head in the corner of the ring in the turnbuckles followed with running knee shots. While Christopher Daniels did lose his coveted title, he never gave up and it’s a sure bet that Daniels will seek back what may be rightfully his according to the gospel of The Fallen Angel; but first Samoa Joe must defend his title against Sabu in the Six Sides of Steel at “Lockdownâ€!
By the time the X-Division Championship match was over, fans within the iMPACT Zone were all elaborately chanting “That Was Awesome!†– truly a classic bout that will go down in history for TNA as being one of the greatest physical spectacles ever witnessed inside the six-sided ring!
Backstage was Jeremy Borash with “The Man In Blackâ€, the Stinger himself! Sting was wondering if Jarrett even had the guts to face him in the ring tonight being that it was going to be Sting’s first wrestling match on national television in five long years. Sting’s suspicions of Jarrett backing out would later come to be. Jarrett had told Eric Young that it was indeed showtime because “Showtime†Eric Young would be fighting Sting in this historical match.
While Eric Young was a little queasy about the fact of stepping in the ring with Sting, he was put into the match without any choice. Before that main event match took place though, we had ourselves a Street Fight between NWA World Tag Team Champions, America’s Most Wanted and Brother Ray & Brother Devon of Team 3D. Dressed in street clothes, Chris Harris and James Storm attempted everything they could to win this match but things just seemed to fall correctly into Team 3D’s lap. Sticking to the allegiance, Petey Williams of Team Canada bombarded the ring, which followed with more Canadians. The match was declared a no-contest as Team Canada were now on the forefront beating on Team 3D before trying to put them through a table. That never occurred however because unlike Planet Jarrett, Team 3D know the true morals when it comes to family bond. It’s not about money or fame; it’s about death, taxes, and tables and the will to fight against adversity in the name of fairness. The former Spike Dudley, now known as “Brother Runt†came to his brothers’ rescue as together they sent Team Canada’s A1 through a table!
Next week, it will be the newly reunited Team 3D going against Jeff Jarrett & America’s Most Wanted!
The time had finally come for Eric Young to meet his fate. He had been running his mouth for months about Sting’s return and now he was meeting him face-to-face in the ring with Sting’s first wrestling match on national television in five years! It was a time for Young to shine and defeat the odds but he unfortunately came up short while being concealed inside his agitated mind frame. It was the Scorpion Death Drop that seeded Sting’s victory as the aftermath then saw Alex Shelley suffering from the Scorpion Death Drop after trying to help Eric defeat Sting.
Jeff Jarrett and his army for Lethal Lockdown were then hitting the ring for the big beat down on Sting. Jarrett’s hired assassin Scott Steiner was in on the forefront of the battle but in came “The Phenomenal†AJ Styles, “The War Machine†Rhino, and Ron “The Truth†Killings to make the save! Jarrett and his army ran for safety as Sting encouraged them “kids†to continue running to their “mommies†because at Lethal Lockdown, they’ll face destiny against Sting and his team – all of whom are former NWA World Heavyweight Champions!
We’ll see you all next Thursday at 11 PM ET when “iMPACT!†returns on Spike TV!
