After watching Bound for Glory I realize that TNA simply can't tell a story in the ring. I swear, Tommy and I were discussing this last night, TNA is like some garbage indy company who can't tell a story so they use ridiculous/sloppy high/hardcore spots to get pops from the crowd. They are the worst from CZW with name power.
Some may think I'm overrated how terrible it is but I'm really, REALLY not. It's god awful to look at a company who has the resources and the talent to succeed but simply don't "get" it. I don't know if they don't understand the business or if they're trying to change the business and failing, but it's miserable.
One of the few good points of the night was Joe/Lashley because, GASP, it didn't have 100 high spots or deep bladejobs or weapon bumps. It was two guys trying to make the others submit/hurt each other and it worked (minus the awful ending).
I don't know what TNA needs. Obviously booking is a problem but one thing TNA definitely should look into is getting better road agents to help book matches, because obviously they have zero idea how to do it. I'm pretty sure anyone from this forum could do better than what was done last night. Nothing seems big, nothing is quality, it's just constant bullshit.
When your biggest PPV of the year is worse than any WWE PPV this year (a bad-decent year at best for WWE, mind you) then you seriously need to rethink your entire business.
It seems like TNA is trying to change from Total Nonstop Action to Terrible Nonsensical Awfulness.
Thoughts?

Re: How ANYONE can think TNA has better wrestling...
My thought is that the person at the top of the company doesn't have a clue what they are doing.
Dixie really should get someone in who knows what they are doing and let them run with it.
All this talk too of Russo not being the one to blame is bull as he's now pretty much the man in charge of all the booking decisions.
TNA needs someone with a wrestling background with a good track history to steady the ship as if they don't get it then they'll be done.

Re: How ANYONE can think TNA has better wrestling...
Pretty much gave my thoughts in my review, but yeah it's unbelievable how bad they are at booking matches. They really don't understand wrestling psychology or what makes a good, dramatic match. It's all about spots and weapons, combined with a ton of outside interference and some ridiculous swerves which don't lead to any sort of payoff. It's pretty horrible.
The Foley/Abyss match just might be the worst worked match I've ever seen. From the awful decision to start the match with a shitty stage spot that didn't even look impressive, to the unprofessional mistake by the ref and Abyss with the commentators doing a terrible job explaining it, to the horrible wrestlecrap Tazer spot, to the Daffney barbed wire spot, and to cap it all off, the fans chanting "this is awesome" throughout.
That's without even mentioning the X Division spotfest and the TLC spotfest, as well as the awful finish in the Joe/Lashley match, which ended abruptly and confusingly (again terrible from the commentators) when it was just getting good.
I hate TNA.

Re: How ANYONE can think TNA has better wrestling...
I know there will be some people who will come in and say "If you don't like it, don't watch it" but this isn't the WWE. This is something that needs to be good. The WWE can be shit for a year but still do fine business wise. TNA are the number two US promotion and need to grow, yet are awful and turning away even the most hardcore fans. They NEED to improve for the sake of them, the wrestlers, and the entire business yet they couldn't book their way out of a paper bag.
It's amazing how much better WWE is than TNA even at WWE's worst. I'd rather see stale, uninspired booking than what I saw last night, and that in itself is shameful.

Re: How ANYONE can think TNA has better wrestling...
I won't comment on the rest of the show until I see it, but the opener was lame. Nothing wrong with a spotfest to open the show, but man some of those guys are awful. I barely watch TNA and I feel like I've seen the Guns do that fake-out>dive combo in every match of theirs. Red looked good but the big Code Red spot was just retarded (why would Sabin jump on Suicide's back...). It wasn't any worse than the one they did earlier in the year though, but it was quite sad to see Daniels and Suicide try such a skullfuckingly retarded spot just for another holy shit chant. They could have done something less dangerous and a lot more simple like a big crossbody dive and it would have gotten the same reaction from the fans. Stupidity.

Re: How ANYONE can think TNA has better wrestling...
I've said this before, but the reason that TNA being so bad at times bothers me - as a fan - is that I really truly want it to be good. I want TNA to be as good as their talent should allow them to be. I want a true alternative to the WWE.

Re: How ANYONE can think TNA has better wrestling...
I didn't see the PPV, so I cannot say anything about that, but I can say something about the regular show, Impact. That has good wrestling, and good bookings. The feuds are interesting, and it is great to watch, IMHO far superior to WWE in every way. The moves are quicker, crisper, and better executed (Batista still cannot do a decent sitdown powerbomb). I think what I appreciate the most about Impact is that they vary their matches. I don't have to watch HHH vs Orton for the 42nd time; that kind of stuff just drives me crazy.
I find that the RAW has become nothing more than a two hour advertisement for what's hot in pop culture. Smackdown was so dull there for a while that I haven't bothered to look back on it for several months now. About the only thing I like from WWE is ECW.
Re: How ANYONE can think TNA has better wrestling...
tna has it's high's and lows. it is ussauly two steps foreword and one step back. they had three hour impact last week. angle and styles had a good match for 20 min. yet there was 40 mins left of impact which was filled with hype almost like an mma press conference. they could have used that 40 mins to add more time to the matches or segments. as bound for glory i enjoyed it besides the odd ball finish with rhino. sting matches are alright but they are not good. favourite match and imo best match he had in tna was against kurt angle at bound for glory. you can blame russo, ed and paul heyman's student matt conway but have to look at dixie. dixie has been putting in her hands in someone else cookie jar if you would. from report i read she wanted tna to have an mma/ufc feel with it. the press conference before/after match, everyone thoughts on the matches. letting cornette go instead making him in charge of booking and creative. allowing russo/conway to have cornette filter their ideas. cornette would fix the bigest problem with tna besides lack there off getting their name out there. the direction in tna. there is no direction and that is what they need the most. the young guys and the vets don't all have direction. less then a handful have direction. vet and young guns all need direction. if tna wants to survive they need have direction or they will be in the same spot they have been in for a while.

Re: How ANYONE can think TNA has better wrestling...
Is this the usual TNA-awfulness or does this exceed even them?
Because if that's the case I will have to check it out just for the laughs.
In all seriousness though, I do want them to succeed. Like other said, it's okay if WWE's shit but it's very bad for the business when promotions like TNA and ROH are doing bad (but most especially TNA).

Re: How ANYONE can think TNA has better wrestling...
Who cares. Its a show for people 15 and over, not for kids, well not as much.
I watch TNA alone because the talking in the ring and crazyness is entertaining. If you want story telling rent a fucking movie or see a play. Normal matches are two guys pretending to fight. Gimmick matches and spot fests are cool and interesting performances where guys risk life and limb. Isn't that way more impressive then a regular match?
I swear you need to seriously get a fucking grip and look from anougher angle. Tommy please stop this constant bitching and bitching about TNA. Dont like it? Okay we get it. No need to through it up in every post like you did with HHH. Not flaming, so dont jump up and down, just asking you to look at it differently or if you dont like it not at all. Hence I believe WWE is for school/ kindergarten children and dont watch it.
