It seems like TNA is intent on pushing Bobby Lashley. Its obvious why - he's got a great look and his MMA cross-over makes for an interesting character. He still doesn't seem great in the ring and he's not much on the mic, but he has obvious potential.
I am, however, quite curious just how far TNA is willing to push Lashley. And whether its a good idea.
The reason I think it could be a bad idea is his MMA career. If he is serious about and does well, then sooner or later, the UFC is going to become a possibility. And if he signs with the UFC, there is no way they would allow him to wrestle as well. I'm not even sure the likes of Strikeforce would allow it. So Lashley having more success in MMA is almost a negative for TNA in that regard. If they do push him hard and he al does well in MMA, it increases the chance he'll leave. So they could end up with a situation like Lesnar in the E - mega-push only for the guy to leave.
Curious what others think on this...

It's surprising that they haven't already crowned him World Champ already, until recently he was just...there. I'd like to see him improve (a lot) but he really could be a huge draw if he ends up in a popular MMA promotion like UFC so I can't blame them for cashing in on that. I couldn't see UFC allowing him to wrestle while training for fights, I'm not sure if they are able to make those sorts of decisions or not. It's not exactly probable, considering how beat up MMA fighters get through training. There's no question that if he does get big he could bring in new fans, the only question about that is whether or not they'll stay if he leaves. I kinda doubt they'd stick around for the product tbh. They have some cash to throw around, if it all falls out they'll have a number of replacements.

Lashley is destined to be one of those TNA main eventers that doesn't show up for the main match on a PPV. Only to be replaced by Sheik Abdul Bashir.
He's not worth pushing. He might have been part of a WrestleMania main event, but he was one of the least important factors of that match. It was also two and a half years ago.
He hasn't even got potential anymore and from what I've read he's not having the slightest effect on TNA.

I was never a fan of his in the WWE and I'm really not a fan of him now. Despite what he may say, MMA is his main focus, and wrestling is his backup plan. He's not going to risk getting hurt in a TNA match, jeopardizing his MMA stuff, and it's honestly going to affect his match quality in TNA. Don't expect him to go long or take big bumps, just a lot of ground and pound mat stuff from him.
Sadly, he'll get pushed to the title, just so TNA can promote the hell out of him as a crossover star.
