I guess if TNA are having him beat Samoa Joe just a month or so after he turned heel and several week after he beat Sting, then they're going to give him a serous push. Or at least as serious as the boffins behind TNA can muster.
He's been away for months and he's got a bland personality. With this being TNA it's not going to be a slow and steady build. They'll either go for it and he'll become champion soon or they'll go for it and get bored by the time Bound For Glory comes about.
Are you into it and does the man have what it takes?

Re: Is Anyone Going To Get Behind The Hernandez Push?
Hernandez is one of the best big guys going today. He's better than Homicide on the mic and is insanely popular. He's not the greatest wrestler but that has never been the deciding factor in any company. The most popular guys get the pushes. I was surprised to see Hernandez get the win clean, i expected a DQ or Count out win for him. I'm not a fan of his new attire but i'm willing to see how he fares against the Mafia over the next few months before deciding either way.

Especially not a company that produces around 1-2 good matches per year.
I think Hernandez is pretty damn average to be fair. Generic big guy. He worked as one half of LAX but he definitely doesn't have enough about him to be an interesting main eventer.

Re: Is Anyone Going To Get Behind The Hernandez Push?
I'm really not sure about Hernandez as a Main Eventer. But hey, it could be worse....it's nice to see TNA pushing new faces into the Main Event scene.
My big issue is that he went over Joe in something like 5 minutes. Are you kidding me? How am I suppose to believe that having Taz in his corner and being in the MEM is benefiting Joe if Joe a former World Champion just lost to a mid carder (be pushed mind you) in a high degree squash match?
Not only that but this makes Homicide look like a little bitch. Regardless of the DQ outcome of the match last week it was made to look like Joe would have won with the choke had it no been for the DQ. Joe a guy who got downed in five minutes was made to look better than the X Division champion which in turn would make him look better than the whole X Division as the champion is realistically the best in the division.
TNA really needs to stop doing these five minute TV finishes between legit guys. It hurts everybody involved and gets no heat.

...
look at the match ending again. just as hernadez got the 3 count joe kicked out. it's just a finish.
to be honest I can't see herandez main eventing. yeah he is over with the crowd. he just needs to become a better big man. he just needs to work with the right people to get their and get the right rub.

Regardless of the ending are you honestly willing to say that having Hernandez go over Joe in roughly five minutes via pinfall is a good move booking wise?

Re: Is Anyone Going To Get Behind The Hernandez Push?
I could get behind the Hernandez push. If he loses the highly cliched Mexican tights which look beyond awful. He's talented as far as big guys go, and wouldn't mind seeing a push, but Good Lord, those tights. I don't think he can make it with those tights =\.

Re: Is Anyone Going To Get Behind The Hernandez Push?
could be could be not it's all about the perception of things.
if joe beat herandez clean guess what would happen? people would complain on the web bitching about how joe killed herandez in his first match back clean.
estenially you can't please everyone is my bottom line.
also look at the time restraints for matches for having two hours and trying to give evryone tv time. had this been ppv for say and had 15 min it wouldn't be bad.
also i wouldn't nessarily calling herandez beating joe in 5 min a squashing. that my friend is exteame exaggeration. did herandez kick joe's ass for a solid 5 min? no so it's not a squash. joe fought back and the finish made it look like herandez got lucky with joe kicking out a 3. same finish when flair faced vader back in wcw and vader was a monster. look backstage joe was pissed that he lost and tazz was talking to him what he did. thus having the mentor or manager if you want to call it that help joe.

Re: Is Anyone Going To Get Behind The Hernandez Push?
It is nice to see him get a push, as TNA is often criticized for not pushing the younger guys. Just don't particularly like how they started it, with a clean win over Joe.
