Otherwise, I think AJ looks alright on the posters, Jake.

Was WWE's worst drawing show of all time. 90,000 buys, or something.

Did a typical TNA number, 25,000, roughly.
A show with plenty of stars, proper matches and proper promotion. Or at least proper by TNA standards.December To Dismember had one show announced in advance and one added a couple of days before the event. The rest of the card was made up on the night. It was a brand only PPV for a brand thast couldn't sell out house shows. It still did better than TNA.
I was about to find an example of a poster with him as the centerpiece that looked really good, and then I was going to lap up your tears. Unfortunately, I can't find one.
They do exist though. I'm sure of it.

A.J. can't sell a PPV, that might be my point.

I honestly don't believe with the current booking, AJ is the hope for TNA. I mean I recall a time when TNA really promoted the guy and he was actually seen as the face of TNA. His feud with Angle was a great one that could have elevated him, but ever since he got lost in the shuffle in a feud no-one cares about with Booker T. Now I don't see him other than a generic mid carder, which is a shame really.
I think the only hope in TNA right now would be Samoa Joe. So far he has drawn in the highest buyrate for TNA PPVs, behind Kurt Angle. Yes, the guy may have shitty booking right now, but at least he's given main event treatment. He's feuded with the top stars of the company in Kurt Angle, Booker T, Kevin Nash, Sting and main evented PPVs.
I always thought TNA didn't just miss the boat, but the whole damn fleet when it came to Monty Brown. He had a decent character, he was no Ricky Steamboat but he could do what is expected of him in the ring, and most of all was marketable as hell. He looked like a star, something that no younger TNA guys have going for them at the moment.
TNA didnt do house shows at the time so they only had five (give or take depending on the month) shows a month. TNA asked Monty to work some independant shows to keep himself in good shape and improve in the ring, he wouldnt, hence why he floated around the main event but never got the title. He was too popular to drop down the card but seemingly wasent willing to do what was asked of him to be given the title.

TNA is going to be in a really bad place if Angle defects to the WWE when his contract ends. TNA needs to put over new stars when guys are on their way out. Maybe I'm forgetting something, but who did Christian put over on his way out? The MEM? They were already over.
Knowing there was a good chance Christian was heading to the WWE he should have been used to put over somebody like Alex Shelley who was getting a lot of air time at the time with the Foley angle. (My timeline might be screwed up)
Nobody knew where Christian was going to end up. The way he went out left him with a big story (Leading the young guys, the role Rhino ended up taking) should he resign but also accounted for why he didnt come back if he didnt resign. Having him go out to Shelley wouldnt have done anything as it would have made no sense. He was feuding with the Mafia at the time so it had to be them that did it.

Considering that they didn't know if Christian was going to be back they should have written him out putting over a young guy anyway. Think Hogan/Lesnar to an extent. Just Christian and whoever they choose to put over at his expense.
In the case that he resigned and was ready to return 6-8 weeks down the line he'd have a revenge angle to come back to.
They basically did just what I am explaining to a small degree, except the people who got the heat for writing off Christian were the MEM who we can all agree didn't need the rub. (Although it at least made sense from a storyline perspective.....good on TNA.)

TNA has a few guys who could add a lot to the show if pushed.
Despite their lack of size, the Motor City Machine Guns could be headliners within TNA. The whole anti-hero immature old school DX style pricks personality works for them.
Now that it looks as if they are turning Storm and Rhoode face, Storm could be a top level guy. The beer drinking badass gimmick worked for both Sandman and Steve Austin, I am in no way saying that James Storm is on Austin's level....but it could still work.
Lashley goes without saying. He's a proven Main Event guy. If he is in TNA for the long run he could be a top level guy.
I'm 50/50 on Eric Young. He has all the tools to be a top level guy, but I'm not sure if he will be taken seriously as a World Champion. Davari could also possibly be a top level guy but he'd have to slowly transcend away from the typical foreigner heel gimmick as it is too restricting.
I've never seen Suicide speak or wrestle....all I know is that he looks cool as fuck. I'm pretty sure I read that it is Kaz behind the mask. If so, he could def make it into the Main Event.
Homicide could also be huge. He has the size barrier holding him back, but I feel he really appeals to a huge segment of pop culture. The same type of kids who idolize these studio gangstas in rap videos would love Homicide as he comes off as legit.
Keeping in mind that both Umaga and Kennedy who are decent talents will be unrestricted free agents soon, along with Elijah Burke coming in....TNA should have no issues with future Main Eventers. It's up to the bookers to decide to put them over the older guys.
