Since signing with TNA and making his debut on IMPACT in September 2008, we have seen Foley as an authority figure, the Executive Shareholder in the company, and also as a wrestler, winning the TNA World Title from Sting at Lockdown this year and holding it until The King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary.
He has been a tweener for much of his TNA run this far, having issues with guys like Sting and the TNA founder Jeff Jarrett. He has mainly been a comedy character involved in many humorous backstage segments though.
The question I am asking here is....
How do you assess Mick Foley's TNA career so far and his contribution to the product?
Do you believe that, all things considered, he has been a successful and worthwhile signing for the company?

Absolutely, I've discussed it with a good friend who is as anti-foley as you can get, but even he cannot argue that Mick has brought some mainstream credibility to TNA. Its quite strange however, I've always been a big fan of Foley, but he epitomizes the 'over the hill' wrestler of today. He looked good in that Mind Games match many moons ago because Shawn was and still is to some extent a fantastic worker.
Perhaps its the books or being part of that close knit 98-99 Attitude group with Austin and the Rock, but he has credibility and has brought more intrigue to the lumbersome TNA main event scene.
Can't polish a turd in the ring though, sorry Mick.
That's TNA, not Foley. The promotion only produces entertaining matches, a good match is just too complicated for them. The big stars don't put people over and memorable angles don't happen.
Foley hasn't made a difference to the product, he hasn't harmed it or made it better.

TNA Ratings have never been so consistantly good. Yes I know that can be contributed to a million things, but I firmly believe Foley one of them.
Foley has tried to get in ring shape, and the time he takes on TV isnt really his fault. I highly doubt before each show he says "Now guys I want the belt, 27 segments and my own secutity team or Im not showing" Its TNAs decision to invest so much TV time into him and the title, that was there call planed vertually from the beggining.
Ulitmately Foley has dont what he was brought into do to the best of his abilities.
Steventon I know what you mean when you question his being there. Its true, its TV time on a guy whos mileage clock ran out 9 years ago. But TNA would not exist the way we know it had Sting not signed. Like it or not TNA need to keep getting Foleys in until they can market their own stars as real mainstream names. Ironically getting Foley in has prevented this furthur, taking TV time of them. The circule of TNA Life.

I agree it's a step in the wrong direction, but TNA still needs star power to try to draw some good numbers. With all these older guys it really is getting a bit out of control.
My question is who out of the older guys are putting over new talent?
Who's Sting putting over?
Who's Mick Foley putting over?
Good to see Beer Money Inc get the tag titles.
Lets see some ages
Sting - 50
Mick Foley - 44
Jeff Jarret - 41
Booker T - 44
Raven - 44
Scott Steiner - 46
So ya some of the guys are really getting up there.
But I really think they need these stars to even be known at this point.
TNA is going for the 90 day WWE guys for some quick ratings. Then their roster ends up looking insane.
Al though I loved Raven's return, and Victoria too.
Really would like to see TNA refocus though on guys like
AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels.
I don't mind seeing all these old guys in TNA, but at this point I'd like to see them having feuds like Shawn Michaels does, or even Undertaker. Have meaningful feuds, and let the younger guys work on getting the belt. But first have the older guys put over younger guys. I don't see why TNA isn't focusing on the future as well as the present.
Mick Foley so far to me has been all over the place, haven't really liked the different directions they've been going with him.

Foley has just made TNA worse, and it was really shitty before he arroved anyway.
That may be true but despite that I'd say he has made the product more entertaining. His backstage segments are usually good and its another big name associated with the TNA product. Again its back to the age old TNA debate of star power and whether stars are worth signing just for the sake of having a big name and drawing ratings. I think Foley is a lot more than just a name. He works hard, is good on the mic, is entertaining and is a good guy to associate with the product. I admit he hasn't done much in the ring but he wouldn't really be expected to. As an authority figure he has been entertaining, to me at least.
Signings like his will raise awareness and create interest in the product. Signing a few "has-beens" is ok if they can still add something and have enough name value to justify it. It's when they sign a "never was" like Stevie that I get annoyed.
And Necro, just for the record, Daniels isn't young himself.
