Can someone PLEASE explain to me this whole MEM thing???
Ok so their point is what exactly?
To get respect from the younger generation right? IE: The Frontline.
However - what happened to the frontline exactly??? Am I slow or not paying attention but it dawned on me a couple of weeks ago they are no longer existent.
No more shirts, entrance music or members.
AJ Styles is doing bugger all with the legends title.
Team 3D is feuding with Beer Money.
Joe is running around with a penis drawn on his face and a towel on his head.
ODB is caught up with Cody Deaner.
Rhyno is training some seman dude.
MCMG are not given nearly enough TV time.
So now the MEM are doing what exactly? Taking over TNA? Feuding with Jarrett/Foley why?
Like - do they have a purpose anymore???
Im sorry but last novemeber I was liking this storyline but now I heard the whole point of it was for a Angle/Foley title match.
Re: Can someone PLEASE explain to me this whole MEM thing???
Actually it's Joe ganging up on them.
I haven't seen this weeks Impact yet but the history of the Main Event Mafia as I've seen it is something like this;
Kurt Angle and Sting got fed up of the "disrespect" they were getting from the younger guys (they had a point) and Kurt approached, Booker, Nash and Sting to form the MEM in Las Vegas, October of last year.
Following that formation Joe and AJ declared war on the MEM, and were joined by what was basically the entire locker room, in what was possibly to death knoll of this entire angle. Steiner returned and sided with the Mafia.
The angle, set-up to push the younger guys towards the main event and solidify Joe and AJ partnered them up with Team 3D and Rhino, fearing a lack of star power... They had AJ (who has won fan TNA's MVP award, apparently voted for by the fans, twice to my knowledge and is a three time triple crown winner) and Joe (who was at one time the most over man in the entire company thanks to fantastic X-Division fueds and a convincing winning streak) and they lacked star power. Well done TNA.
The Mafia dominated The newly named Frontline for months, putting out every member at one time or another. Sting stayed face, in a heel faction.
The Frontline continually fueded with themselves, and the Mafia followed suit by having Sting and Angle fued over the Title, making it look like The Frontline were a bunch of bitches.
Jarrett and Foley started meddling in Mafia business, and as The Frontline slowly began returning, they got mentioned less and less, and all the old men started fueding more and more.
Christopher Daniels returned, helped The Frontline win in the Lethal Lockdown match at Lockdown, and then had zero effect whatsoever by going straight into a fued with outher Frontline members.
Sting toppled Angle as leader of the Mafia in a World Title match at Sacrifice, but didn't win the Title because TNA's bookers are fully mentally retarded and are seemingly writing this shit blindfolded and by poking their figures up their arses and scratching their dirty nails against the walls of their padded cells.
Now the Mafia is a heel faction with a face leader, being stalked by a fat, out of shape, injured Samoa Joe with a shit gimmick, while the rest of the so called Frontline twiddle they thumbs and self-felate to a soundtrack of hilarious Booker T and Scott Steiner promos.
And yet, I still find Impact more watchable than Raw... Go figure.

So I guess somewhere inbetween these moments Vince Russo just decided to not have the frontline exist anymore...... L-O-L
Re: Can someone PLEASE explain to me this whole MEM thing???
Seriously, even after that rant about the MEM, I have to say that Impact has been really very good since Sacrifice. Other than the problems with the whole Main Event Mafia storyline, it's actually entertaining and shockingly, it's making sense for the most part. It's much better than Raw at this point.
Re: Can someone PLEASE explain to me this whole MEM thing???
The MEM was an epic fail. It did nothing to get any younger guys over, and just degenerated to the point where it was contradicting considering Frontline had mostly older guys in it as well.
TNA needs to completely reboot their product creatively. TNA should be centered around making new stars to feud with Angle, Sting, and to a lesser extent Booker T.
Steiner, Jarret, Nash, and Foley should all be regulated to non wrestling roles. They are far too old to provide anything good in the ring, and they won't really help draw any new fans in.
Angle and Sting are still competetant enough in the ring, and still credible enough with mainstream wrestling fans (IE they aren't considered to be a stain on WWE's tampon that they disposed of last month) that if somebody was flipping channels and saw one of these guys on TNA they'd assume TNA has got to be legit because a HUGE star is on their show. It is simply up to TNA to provide an undercard/fresh faced Main Event product that is actually intriguing from a creative standpoint.
Re: Can someone PLEASE explain to me this whole MEM thing???
Some things just cant be explained. They never new long term where they were going with this thing in the first place, and still dont. Still it is what it is, and you do get Scott Steiner Promos for it.

Re: Can someone PLEASE explain to me this whole MEM thing???
The point of the MEM is like the point of all wrestling stables: To help build up younger wrestlers into future stars of wrestling. Whether the younger wrestlers are part of the stable or feuding with it.
In MEM's case, their main job was to help build up Samoa Joe and AJ Styles and make them look like credible wrestlers and bigger main eventers than they already were back when TNA wasn't as big as it is now. MEM has done that for them.
Right now, they're now only working angles and storylines until they officially break up. It looks like they're going to break them up by Joe taking them out one by one, which only makes him look more credible if he does that.
