it is close because their is alot of talk about TNA moving to Monday nights.
If TNA moves to Monday nights at 9 PM, they will be destroyed in the ratings. TNA is still years away from competing with the WWE. Against All Odds this year brought in about 12k buys. Which is incredibly low for a TNA PPV. Meanwhile, December 2 Dismember brought in around 100k buys.

What the hell?? TNA are no where near the WWE, absoutly not even close, not even a little bit. WWE can make more numbers in one show than TNA can do in 9 months.

WWE lives off of its past success. Truthfully, if WWE had to start on the same ground as TNA does, with the current product WWE has, they would fail worse than Ken on a diet plan.

Very, very true. If WWE was a up and coming company with the same roster, TNA woud beat WWE's ass IMO. But I probably wouldn't be watching wrestling.
TNA could probably compete witn AM Raw, but I if I was TNA I would be worried about bettering my company, instead of trying to compete with another.

Well of course it does, but that goes without saying. If there's one thing the WWE has over any other US company, it's security. While companies have come and gone in the past half century, the WWE has remained. Especially once Vince Jr took over, a lot of work went into making the WWE name world wide known. Even non-wrestling fans have heard of Wrestlemania. Which makes whenever someone claims so-and-so company is going to compete with the WWE, it's laughable. No they aren't. It's impossible to compete with the WWE because they've been doing this for longer than most current wrestlers have been alive. A good example of how far behind TNA really is is their new show, TNA Epics. In a show that is supposed to showcase every moment in TNA's "Great" history, it only goes back seven years. Meanwhile, WWE's Classic on Demand (WWE 24/7) regular schedule barely has anything in the 2000's.
I'm not sure whether I'm making myself clear, but while it's true the WWE is living off of their past, it's not something you can hold against the company. The WWE is able to put on terrible show after terrible show because they already have fans. However, these new companies do not have that luxury. It just goes to show how far behind TNA really is no matter what Dixie Carter or anyone else tries to claim. TNA is a blimp on wrestling history while wrestling history is the WWE.

Even if TNA were to gain in popularity going head to head with the WWE wouldn't be wise. It worked out for WCW because the WCW was able to set a certain tone with their first few shows where anything could happen (IE Luger debuting), they also were able to stage their shows live. WCW had multiple trump cards over RAW which cemented in the fans minds that if they don't watch Nitro they might miss something huge, where as Raw was a run of the mill taped show.
Even with all those advantages, it took WCW a while to overtake the WWE in the ratings. Even if TNA were to get a 2.5 next show, they don't have the tools or sensability at their disposal at the moment.
You also have to keep in mind that if TNA decided to compete with say Smackdown, what would stop Vince from calling a draft and absolutely loading Smackdown with as many big names as possible. Followed by creating a monthly free TV special on the same night as TNA's PPVs in order to rape their buy rate. TNA attempting to grow to fast would be very risky.
