This is a discussion on Slammiversary - June 21st 2009 - Detroit, MI within the TNA Discussion forums, part of the Wrestling Forums category; I'm going to take a wild guess and say Taz made Joe join the Mafia....

I didn't see the pre-PPV match, but surely Rhino can't lose a match where him and Young are a Tag Team, by Neal getting pinned when he wasn't in the Tag Team? Meh, I don't care anyway as this was easily the best TNA PPV this year and actually left me excited for this weeks Impact.
The X-Division King Of The Mountain match was a fun spotfest, and in my opinion ended with the right result. It may not have had a ton of logic and psychology behind it (How long was Lethal perched on that ladder on the turnbuckle before his spot cam up?) but it was enjoyable nonetheless.
Daniels/Douglas was decent, but kinda pointless. Where was the point in having Douglas return only to put Daniels over, when Douglas is a nobody and the fans don't care and Daniels hasn't benefitted at all?
The Knockouts Title match was pretty good and left me with hope that Tara could possibly make a real impact (no pun intended) in the Division.
The mixed Monsters Ball was also a lot of fun. A complete spotty gimmick fest but what would anyone expect from a Monsters Ball. Taylor and Daffney were easily the MVP's and Daffney's bump on to the tacks was sick!
Sting/Morgan was easily the worst match of the night, but it may have helped Morgan gain some ground... Maybe. We'll have to see what happens on Impact over the next few weeks. Although it did feel very much like Triple H putting someone over (read: the least effort possible).
Beer Money totally deserved the win, and I'm glad they got it, but they have to have The British Invasion have to get involved? After such a great build to the match, a clean win would've made it all the more important. But at least it creates a nice new fued, I suppose.
The main event started out like a complete clusterfuck, and pretty much continued in that fashion. No one seemed to know what was going on for the first five minutes and that never really changed to the level where I could completely get lost in the match. I know that a swerve for the sake of a swerve is pointless, and that Joe handing Angle the Title made the belt look shitty, I'm actually excited by this swerve. Joe is now obviously turning full heel and that's great. Him teaming with Angle is even better. This has potential to keep me interested.
One way they could go with it is having Angle and Joe against the rest of the Mafia, with the reason being that Angle is bitter about losing his leadership position and Joe being, well, the crazy bad-ass that he is. Hell, earlier in the PPV, during an interview with Angle, he talked about how all the other members had been taken out and now the match was all about him and Joe. He just didn't mean it the way we thought he meant it.
Did no one notice the entire Mafia bar Sting out on the ramp sipping champagne at the end? They were all in on it. That much is obvious.
