Last Impact we saw the debut of three advertised wrestlers. They were Raven, Victoria and Shane Douglas.
Raven came in and teased defending Abyss but in the end attacked Abyss and alligned himself with Stevie Richards.
Victoria answered Angelina Love's rather rhetorical question as to when she'd recieve new competition and attacked the Beautiful People, even hitting a Widow's Peak on Victoria.
Shane Douglas at the end of Impact came in and hit Daniels with a chain before leaving.
What are your thoughts on these?
Personally i have a mixed reaction. Raven has a lot to offer the wrestling world. He's a great mic worker and would to well as a manager of sorts, a backstage Interviewer, an odd authority figure or a commentator. He also has a great mind for the business and would do well as a writer. However, he's far past his prime, as epic a it was and has nothing to offer now. Neither does Stevie, for that matter. As far as I'm concerned, this whole Abyss angle is just a joke.
As far as Shane Douglas coming in, a lot of it is the same as Raven. Great mic worker, great wrestling mind, could do a load of stuff I haven't mentioned too. But he just isn't a good wrestler anymore and a program with Daniels is just wasting Daniels.
As for Victoria, kudos. The whole promo leading up to it was great, to begin with, as it was a serious promo and it made me think of that Division as some watchable. Victoria coming out made it even better though. I personally thought that Victoria would be a dud due to her back problems and aging body, but she was actually quite crisp and had a very large reaction. She may be what we need to replace Gail Kim.
Thoughts?

I think you are right on with your thoughts. I don't like putting Shane Douglas in that type of storyline. he's great on the mic, and would be fine in another role. But as far as the angle they worked him into I'm not liking it.
Raven can come in, and instantly have an impact on a storyline. He'll be great in that.
Victoria too looked real good, looked ready to go. Worked out perfectly, and she is still looking hot. Great to see her in the mix
Overall
For Raven
For Victoria
Against Shane Douglas.

Didnt Shane Douglas once spew in the ring wrestling Raven in TNA? That alone makes me VERY sketicle of his return. Maybe they can name his finisher the Target Slam.

So wait, why are we glad to see Raven wrestling again? A far as WRESTLING goes, what more does Raven have left to offer the business? Seems to me that he can sure be used in other aspects of the business, but surely him wrestling again isn't good news?

Raven to me never had a wrestling style that he could get bad at an old age. He basically has a very brawler type style and he can be doing that right now and still be the old Raven. Raven was never a wrestler who really could wrestle more than the fact he knew how to get the crowd to eat out of his hand while he was in the ring. A drop toe hold onto a chair isn't really complex. He knows the way to build a match and for that alone any match he is in is going to be good at the least.
Shane Douglas kind of seems random. I mean, he comes out and attacks Daniels and now what? I just see it becoming a very pointless feud. I did enjoy him returning though as I was wondering how the hell they were going to fit him in. TNA will really have to come up with something original if they want that storyline to go anywhere.
Victoria coming out was amazing. The Knockouts division has been struggling as of late and having Victoria make her debut definitely breathes some fresh air into the division. She was great in WWE and they constantly underestimated her abilities. Now with this new chance in TNA we can only hope for the best. She is a female wrestler that oozes personality.
Overall all of these appearances have made TNA more interesting...which is a good thing. The shock factor of having them returning may not have been so high as TNA advertised they were going to appear but it was nice seeing how they fit them in. I'm personally a big fan of the Stevie Richards and Raven combination and I don't really like the Abyss storyline but I'm looking forward to a Richards and Raven spin-off of sorts. In the end TNA brought a ball into their court now we just got to see how they play it out.

I've always been a Raven mark, so it's nice to see him back. Yeah, he's a little bit shoddy in the ring nowadays but I think he's still capable of putting on a decent match. What he can do is make TNA interesting with angles and whatnot, and actually make me care about fueds. TNA went down the shitter the moment he lost the title, I say. Honestly though, I'm not looking forward to this Dr. Stevie/Abyss crap. I think he could have done something else much more interesting. Victoria is a nice addition and will freshen up the Knockouts division, and that's about all I can say at the moment. Nothing really monumental went down, she's just challenging for the title. The way they pulled it off was nice though. Shane Douglas... ugh...

I've always been a fan of Raven. He appears to have gotten himself back into shape as compared to where he was a few years ago. He may be limited in the ring, but he is mostly a hardcore wrestler so that should cover that up. I'm all for Raven being apart of TNA once again.
Victoria is a good pickup for TNA. A fresh face for the knockouts division.
Now, Shane Douglas is someone i have been a fan of but he really shouldnt be in TNA at this point. He looked really out of shape and by the looks of it he would be in a program with Daniels. That just doesn't look like a good thing to me. Douglas should be a manager or anything aside from wrestling at this point.
I think that Raven and Douglas are only being brought back, because they were some of the "TNA Originals" and "Legends." Adds nostalgia value to Slammiversary.
