Because TNA said it was a "Four Way Ultimate Sacrifice for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship". They kept implying that the title would be on the line and that the winner of the match would get it. They never said the winner would only get the title if they beat Foley.

i am pretty sure that they implied the title COULD change hands IF foley were pinned, thus losing his 'sacrifice'

otherwise, that would have just been a handicap against the champ.

i dunno.. i understood it perfectly.

I dont think they explained the Foley part that well before hand, it wasent until during the match that most people figured out he was only losing the title if he got pinned. Looking back now, it sould have been obvious he wouldnt lose it without getting pinned, but they didnt say that even once so we all just assumed he would lose it either way. I think it was partially because so many people wanted him to lose it aswell.

Here is a key difference as to why TNA is still bush league compared to WWE. Even though I'm not really high on WWE right now, they still make doubly sure to explain things 100% so you don't have to spend time wondering what's going on, and instead keep your belief suspended and watching the action. Sometimes simpler is better.

I haven't watched this yet, but I doubt it's going to redeem itself to me. This makes no sense. The guys in the match had to sacrifice something to get into the match, if they were pinned they lost what they had put on the line, if they won they got the Title, thus making their sacrifice worthwhile. That's how I understood it, and that also made sense considering Jarrett made the match to remove the Title from a deranged power hungry and way past it Foley. This seems to make no sense whatsoever, especially consdering that pinning Sting didn't actually get you anything at all.
