I found 2007 easily the most entertaining. AJ Styles excelled in it and it was cool to see guys like Chris Harris in there. There were some great spots.
As soon as I saw the lineup for 2008 I knew it would be terrible.

Is there any match TNA doesn't make overly complicated?
A street fight? Oh no, it's a Philidelphia Street Fight... Or a New Jersey Street Fight.
A battle royal? Oh no, it's a gautlet over the top rope battle royal match, ending with a one on one match when we're down to the last two.
A cage match? Oh no, it's a Six Sides Of Steel Cage Match with weapons.
A last man standing? Cool, yeah. But let's make it so you have to pin your opponent first, so they're actually down for 13 seconds, not just 10. Then the match can last half the time a WWE version would last making our guys look like fucking pussies.
What. The. Fuck.
Any gimmick that you can think of is added to, and given a dumb name, and even normal one on one matches are ocassionally named something completely fucking stupid for no reason.

That sounds a bit like the Wrestlemania X match between the Macho Man and Crush, when they had a falls count anywhere match. You had to pin your opponent outside the ring, after which he then had 10 seconds to make it back to the ring.
It was flippin' terrible.

I think you're just over analyzing TNA in this post. I mean, naming a street fight with the the city name in it is putting over the city they are in which is good business since they rarely get out.
I personally prefer it to a normal Battle Royal. Battle Royals are natural cluter fucks. At least at the end of some of TNA', we get some decent booking.
Six Sides of Steel is simply a cage match with weapons, and a different name. So what?
You have something against originality?
And they prefer the Texas Death Match to the Last Man Standing Match, so what? They are both widely used, very commong matches. If you've never watched a Texas Death Match then maybe you should look around a little bit. The only thing I'd ask out of them is note it as a TDM instead of a LMS. Especially considering the Angle/Joe one, which is easily their best known "LMS" was a great match.

It's not the same thing as that.

What some of your are complaining about is originality, rather than Pole Matches, Reverse Battle Royals and certain KOTM matches. How about Doomsday Chamber of Blood matches? THAT is the difference between originality and overbooking through corny and cheesey unndeeded names. Yet that match wasn't even mentioned.
Oh, I forgot abou the Texas Death Match.... man those rules blew. You have to pin your opponents...then get a ten count. Basically you have to knock them out for 13 seconds. Talk about a heat-killing finish.

Those matches are original? Didn't you just make an argument about how they are pretty much ripoffs of WWE concepts?
Anyway, originality is only good if it works. It is no use having original gimmicks if they suck, which in my opinion, most of the TNA ones do. Sometimes you have to keep it simple and stick with what works.
